Dec. 19, 2022: Sharp rise in oil shipments changes India export map. Sidhartha • 4h ago. Netherlands has emerged as India's third largest export destination, trailing the US and UAE, during April-October this year, rising from the eighth spot a year ago. Brazil, which was India's 20th biggest export destination between April and October 2021, is currently placed eight, according to the latest disaggregated data available with the commerce department. And, Tanzania has seen imports from India soar three times to $2.4 billion during the first seven months of the current financial year. While the three countries may be spread across different continents, there is a common thread - oil exports. In the case of Tanzania, over 80% or $1.3 billion of the $1.6 billion in exports from India is on account of more petrol and diesel shipped to the African nation.

Now in the latest development, a meteorite named Kamargaon that crashed in Kamargaon town in the Golaghat district of Assam, India around seven years ago, is said to hold secrets of the origin of life. It is the chemical composition of the meteorite which hints that it all began in the core of stars. A study by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has claimed that the researchers have found some rare vesicular olivine and pyroxene in minerals for the first time in a meteorite from the outer solar system. The study was joined by researchers from Hiroshima University, Japan, and Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, and it has been published in the Journal of Geophysical Research-Planets.

Fig. 01 View across southern sky 35-45 minutes after sunset
on Dec. 24, 2022.
Dec. 24, 2022: you can see them again this month. This time they fan out across the evening sky at dusk and will remain easily visible with the naked eye and binoculars through year's end. While the symmetry of the alignments isn't quite as elegant — they're not sequentially lined up in order of their distance from the Sun — the arrangement is nonetheless satisfying, with all the planets visible at a glance. Starting at the western horizon and moving upward and east, we'll see Venus, Mercury, Saturn, Neptune, Jupiter, Uranus, and Mars in that order. As before, feel free to add the planet you're standing on to complete the octet. If you'd rather have the Moon substitute for Earth, a willowy crescent glitzes the scene on December 24th, joining Venus and Mercury in a 7°-wide isosceles triangle low in the southwestern sky 25 to 60 minutes after sundown.

Dec.30 2022: arXiv:2212.13349 [astro-ph.GA]:Tue, 27 Dec 2022 03:26:29 UTC (856 KB):[Submitted on 27 Dec 2022]:A Statistical Relation between Mass, Age and Velocity Dispersion in the Solar Neighborhood. :Authors: Hossein Fatheddin, Sedighe Sajadian. The stellar kinematics of the Galactic disk are main factors for constraining disk formation and evolution processes in the Milky Way (MW) Galaxy. In this paper we investigate a statistical relation between stellar Mass, Age and Velocity Dispersion for stars in the Solar neighborhood. Age-Velocity dispersion relations (AVR), with their applications, have been studied in details before. But their correlation with mass was mostly neglected. To investigate this relation, we use the proper motion data of more than 113035 stars in the Galactic disk (with Solar distances less than 150 parsecs) provided by the third data release of the \textit{Gaia} mission and for stellar Mass and Age, \textit{Gaia}'s Final Luminosity Age Mass Estimator is implemented. We analyze this data and the correlations between the parameters with Random Forrest (RF) Regression, which is an Ensemble statistical learning technique. Finally, we show that by considering the stellar mass alongside age, we can determine Velocity Dispersions with the average relative error, and mean absolute error of about 9%, and 2.68 km/s, respectively. We also find that the correlation of stellar age with Velocity Dispersion is 3 to 8 times more than mass, which varies due to the different stellar types and masses.
Dec. 30, 2022: arXiv:2212.13395 [astro-ph.HE]:Tue, 27 Dec 2022 07:44:41 UTC (1,578 KB)[Submitted on 27 Dec 2022]:Variability and Spectral Behavior of Gamma-ray Flares of 3C 279.:Authors:Gege Wang, Junhui Fan, Hubing Xiao, Jinting Cai.:ABSTRACT:3C 279 showed enhanced flux variations in Fermi-LAT {\gamma}-ray observations from January to June 2018. We present a detailed Fermi-LAT analysis to investigate the variability and spectral behaviors of 3C 279 during the {\gamma}-ray flares in 2018. In this work, we analyzed the {\gamma}-ray spectra and found that the spectra in either the flaring or quiescent states do not show any clear breaks (or cutoffs). This indicates that the dissipation region is outside the broad-line region, and the energy dissipation may be due to the inverse Compton process of scattering the dust torus infrared photons, this result is also consistent with that in Tolamatti et al. An external inverse Compton scattering of dusty torus (DT) photons is employed to calculate the broadband spectral energy distribution (SED). This model was further supported by the fact that we found flare decay timescale was consistent with the cooling time of relativistic electrons through DT photons. During the SED modeling, a relatively harder spectrum for the electron energy distribution (EED) is found and suggests these electrons may not be accelerated by the shock that happened in the dissipation region. Besides, the magnetic reconnection is also ruled out due to a low magnetization ratio. Thus, we suggest an injection of higher-energy electrons from outside the blob.
