01-05-2019: at 16:08:21: Scientists have 3D-printed an inexpensive and portable high-resolution microscope that could potentially be used to detect diabetes, malaria and other diseases in developing countries. The portable instrument produces 3D images with twice the resolution of traditional digital holographic microscopy, which is typically performed on an optical table in a laboratory.  It is small enough to be used in the field or at the bedside and has potential for biomedical applications such as cell identification and disease diagnosis, according to the study published in the journal Optics Letters. In addition to biomedical applications, it could also be useful for research, manufacturing, defence and education.

02 May 2019: 04:30 PM: A space rock collided with the Moon at a speed of 61,000 km an hour during the total lunar eclipse in January this year, excavating a crater 10 to 15 metres across, scientists say. Observers watching the total eclipse of the Moon on January 21 this year, witnessed a short-lived flash as a meteorite hit the lunar surface. Researchers from the University of Huelva and Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia in Spain used eight telescopes to monitor the lunar surface during the event. The impact flash lasted 0.28 seconds and is the first ever filmed during a lunar eclipse, despite a number of earlier attempts. Total lunar eclipses take place when the Moon moves completely into the shadow of the Earth. The Moon takes on a red colour -- the result of scattered sunlight refracted through the Earth's atmosphere -- but is much darker than normal. The most recent lunar eclipse took place on January 21 this year, with observers in North and South America and Western Europe enjoying the best view.  Just after the total phase of the eclipse began, a flash was seen on the lunar surface. Widespread reports from amateur astronomers indicated the flash -- attributed to a meteorite impact -- was bright enough to be seen with the naked eye.

12 May, 2019: Biggest Roman coins' hoard found. The coins were found in a ceramic pot, which was buried in the centre of a large oval pit - lined with quarried limestone. What we found during the excavation suggests to me that the hoard was not put in the ground in secret, but rather was perhaps a ceremonial or votive offering. The Rauceby hoard is giving us further evidence for so-called 'ritual' hoarding in Roman Britain. The more than 3,000 copper alloy coins are being examined by The British Museum and will be valued.

Of the 13 districts groundwater is lowest in Chittoor at 28.17meters.

14 May, 2019: 12:22 pm IST: Kodaikanal: It’s ice, but not quite. It isn’t cold but extremely hot, can exist only at extraordinarily high pressures, and is black. Researchers in the US have created ‘superionic water ice’, a form of crystalline water that may help scientists better understand the universe, especially the solar system’s most distant planetary denizens, Uranus and Neptune, which are believed to be primarily formed of this.
May 14, 2019: Shrinking Moon generating lunar quakes. The Moon’s surface crust is brittle, so it breaks as the Moon shrinks, forming “thrust faults” where one section of crust is pushed up over a neighbouring part. Our analysis gives the first evidence that these faults are still active and likely producing moonquakes today as the Moon continues to gradually cool and shrink.

May 15, 2019: 14:14 IST: Mumbai woman is world’s first to cross Atlantic Ocean in LSA. A resident of Borivali, northwest Mumbai suburb, Pandit underwent an arduous seven-month preparatory training schedule in India, Greenland, Siberia, and Italy. She achieved the feat around midnight Monday-Tuesday (May 13-14) when she landed her tiny aircraft at Iqaluit Airport in Canada, after a gruelling 3,000 km long flight, under adverse and extreme weather conditions following take-off from Wick, Scotland (United Kingdom), with brief stopovers in Greenland and Iceland.

1-15 May 2019: Hottest fortnight.
Bangalore: K. S. Rangadhama Rao employed in a computer firm in Bangalore informed me that it rained nearly five hours, it is my observation that whenever it rains in Bangalore, some how the Godavari water in Andhra Pradesh flows water rich. This is almost the third time in this fortnight I have witnessed the happening. Since it rained five hours I am sure there would be a great inflow to Godavari River in the next couple of days, that would certainly help the Andhra State people and especially the farmers.
