Nov. 15 2023: Dark matter data salvaged from balloon-borne telescope that landed hard on Earth. Sharmila Kuthunur published about 17 hours ago. 'Our telescope got to the point where it was completely destroyed.'Luckily, the data it had collected — 200 gigabytes' worth of stunning images of galaxy clusters taken while floating 100,000 feet (30,000 meters) above Earth's surface — had been copied to old-fashioned SD drives and parachuted to the ground safely, showing that valuable science data can be salvaged even in a "worst-case scenario," scientists reported on Tuesday (Nov. 14). The $10 million balloon-borne observatory, known as the Super Pressure Balloon Imaging Telescope (SuperBIT), was designed to give astronomers pocket-friendly observations of celestial objects. The main goal was to help map dark matter around galaxy clusters, primarily by measuring how the celestial objects warp space and time around them.

Nov. 15 2023: This is the first time in nearly 20 years scientists have measured this wobble, known as the tau magnetic moment, and it may help illuminate tantalizing cracks emerging in the known laws of physics. Muons and taus are much heavier but also far shorter-lived than electrons. While muons exist only for mere microseconds, scientists at Fermilab near Chicago measured the muon’s magnetic moment to 10 decimal places in 2021. They found that muons wobbled noticeably faster than Standard Model predictions, suggesting unknown particles may be appearing in the muon’s quantum cloud.

Nov. 15 2023: Along with the footsteps of the ancient man, a picture of the Padmavyutham of the Mahabharata war, which was carved extensively on a rocky hill thousands of years ago, has emerged. If you want to know the place where the historical wealth of 8,000 years ago was discovered, you have to read this story. There is a picture resembling this Padmavyuhan on the banks of a pond-like natural pool of water in this Shiva temple. Aitareya Brahmanam says that the Telugus fought on behalf of the Kauravas in the Kurukshetra war. From the 17th century onwards, tantric texts mentioned the subject of chakra-yudhas and padma-yuddhas. Mahabharata episodes are carved on the walls of halebidu temple. The temple is specially carved with a Padmavyutham in which Abhimanyu participated in the Mahabharata war. Like in the Padmayukta, this stone carving figure also has a single door. Pictures are available in many places on the combat prowess of ancient man. The historian is investigating the reasons for the engraving of this padmavyukta stone painting, which gained prominence in the Mahabharata war.

Nov, 16, 2023: The universe may have produced dark matter in the first few minutes of the Big Bang, according to new research. Those particles then got trapped into ultra dense pockets. Some of those pockets splintered off to become black holes, which then dissolved into a shower of multiple dark matter particle "species," creating a "dark matter periodic table" of invisible elements, the study authors suggest. While cosmologists and astronomers have identified circumstantial evidence for the existence of dark matter, from the rotation rates of stars within galaxies to the largest structures visible in the cosmos, they have not identified exactly what the dark matter is.

Nov, 16, 2023: In just eight years, rural Indian communities have made a remarkably fast transition from inefficient incandescent bulbs to highly efficient LED bulbs – offering families a brighter home and future. Without the threat of heightened electricity bills, school children have the opportunity to continue their studies into the evening. Shopkeepers can keep their doors open a little longer, and parents can delay meals knowing that their homes are well-illuminated. Families are no longer under pressure to finish their household tasks before the sun sets, as the glow of LED lights extends their productive hours. 4 Related video: India gears up to celebrate Festival of Lights (Dailymotion). The benefits of India’s LED transition for households and the national energy grid is undeniable: before 2015, lighting consumed a staggering 24% of the electricity in a village, today LEDs use only 5% of household electricity. This accomplishment is a win for both people and the planet.

Nov, 16, 2023: In 2015, the government jumped at the opportunity for positive impact across the country – launching the Unnat Jyoti by Affordable Light Emitting Diode (UJALA) scheme. This bulk procurement programme provided affordable LEDs to domestic consumers, including those in rural communities, by exchanging power-hungry incandescent bulbs for energy-efficient LED lamps – offering energy bill savings of INR 19,000 crores per year.

Nov, 16, 2023: But the innovation didn’t end there. To further improve rural access to life-changing LED lamps, India leverage the innate compatibility of LEDs and solar power systems. With the support of Smart Power India, two million solar home systems and more than 14,000 micro and mini-grids have been deployed in India – bolstering rural electrification. When paired with the widespread distribution of LED lighting, these technologies are able to illuminate the lives of millions.

Nov, 16, 2023: The LED lighting roll-out in India showcases the cumulative benefits of transitioning to more efficient lighting technologies: reducing the electricity load from lighting without compromising light service, while simultaneously reducing energy costs on family budgets. Now that LED lights have become a staple, India's continued growth in new residential and commercial buildings will drive further demand for super-efficient and cost-effective LED lighting systems.  The LED transformation in India is not just a bright idea; it's a beacon of hope, demonstrating how sustainable development and access to affordable energy can be achieved while saving money and preserving our planet. It's time for the world to take notice. As members of the G20 have recently agreed to tackle climate change by tripling their investments in renewable energy by 2030, India's LED success story should serve as a shining example for others to follow. It's a testament to the power of innovation and government initiatives, all working together to brighten the future for rural India and, indeed, the world.

Nov, 17, 2023:  Central to Ayurveda #39;s philosophy is the belief that the human body consists of three doshas or energies that must harmonise for optimal health. Over the past few decades, the world has witnessed a remarkable increase in life expectancy, with a three-decade rise since the mid-twentieth century. By the year 2030, projections indicate that one out of every five individuals across the globe will have crossed the age threshold of 65. While this extension of lifespan is undoubtedly a testament to advancements in modern medicine, it comes hand in hand with a host of health-related challenges often associated with old age. In this context, the concept of healthy ageing takes centre stage, aiming not only for prolonged years but also for the preservation of vitality and well-being.

Nov, 17, 2023: chiral bose-liquid state They're calling it the chiral bose-liquid state, and as with every new arrangement of particles we discover, it can tell us more about the fabric and the mechanisms of the Universe around us – and in particular, at the super-small quantum scale. States of matter describe how particles can interact with one another, giving rise to structures and various ways of behaving. Lock atoms in place, and you have a solid. Allow them to flow, you have a liquid or gas. Force charged partnerships apart, you have a plasma. The quantum landscape provides even stranger ways for particles to interact, allowing for unique behaviors best described in terms of possibility and energy. Researchers discovered the new state through a frustrated quantum system. In simple terms, it's a system with built-in constraints that prevent particles from interacting as they might typically (hence the frustration). These constraints – and the resulting frustration – can create exciting results for scientists. Here, the researchers focused on electrons and used the analogy of a party game to explain what's happening. "It's like a game of musical chairs, designed to frustrate the electrons," said theoretical condensed matter physicist Tigran Sedrakyan from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. "Instead of each electron having one chair to go to, they must now scramble and have many possibilities in where they sit." The system researchers put together was a semiconducting device with two layers: a top layer rich in electrons and a bottom layer with many available holes for the electrons to naturally move into. The twist? There aren't enough holes for all the electrons.
