Feb.01, 2023:A green comet is whizzing past the earth for the first time since the ice age. The comet's head shines green, while its tail shines white. A green comet called C/2022 E3 (ZTF), or Comet ZTF for short, is nearing its closest approach to earth for the first time since the ice age. Comet ZTF will come within 26 million miles (42 million km) of our planet on Wednesday, about a third of the distance between the earth and the sun. The green comet, which last passed through the inner solar system about 50,000 years ago, will be at its brightest during this time. Like other comets, ZTF has a stunning green hue, although skygazers may be unable to see this with the naked eye. The secret of the comet's green glow lies in a molecule called diatomic carbon, C2.

Feb.04, 2023: After Joshimath, Jammu village starts sliding; 200 evacuated. In a situation similar to the sinking of Joshimath in Uttrakhand, more than 200 men, women and children have been evacuated from Nai-Basti village of the Doda district in Jammu where several residential buildings developed wide cracks as the place was sliding. The number of houses that have developed cracks have dramatically increased to 21 on Friday six days after the phenomenon was noticed. A mosque and a madrassa for girls have also been abandoned as the buildings were unsafe. The Doda and Kishtwar districts of Jammu are being developed as the hydroelectric generation hub of the country with several power projects coming up in the area.

The astronomers noted that although the planet’s rotation is tidally locked to the star that it orbits, they are still optimistic that it can provide suitable conditions for life. They noted that the lack of intense ultraviolet radiation and stellar activity could have preserved the atmosphere of Wolf 1069 b.

Last week, the market received around 40 boxes of Ratnagiri Alphonso. According to traders at APMC’s Fruits Market, a single box of mangoes is being sold between Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 depending upon size and quantity. One box contains from 4 dozen to 8 dozen mangoes. The supply of mangoes will increase in March and the prices will also come down sharply.

Feb.10,2023:The SSLV rocket was carrying ISRO's Earth Observation Satellite - EOS-07, Janus-1 belonging to ANTARIS of the US and AzaadiSat-2 belonging to Space Kidz India, Chennai. The ISRO has developed SSLV with a carrying capacity of 550 kg to the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) based on the market trend of going in for smaller satellites.The SSLV-D2 was carrying a total weight of 175.2 kg -- 156.3 kg EOS-07, 10.2 kg, Janus-1 and 8.7 kg AzaadiSAT-2 -- as its luggage. The SSLV rocket provides low-cost access to space, offers low turn-around time and flexibility in accommodating multiple satellites, and demands minimal launch infrastructure. It is configured with three solid propulsion stages and a velocity terminal module. Costing about Rs 56 crore, the SSLV rocket stands 34 meters tall, two-meter diameter vehicle having a lift-off mass of 120 ton.

'Vidyut Rakshak' integrates and automates the operation of multiple generators from a single system remotely. It is an indigenously developed product that will be useful for the defense forces. The product was displayed by Captain Rajprasad at the Aero India show in Bengaluru, where he briefed on it. ‘Vidyut Rakshak’ is being showcased at the India Pavilion to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Aero India 2023 in Bengaluru.

The Hanle reserve is located around the Indian Astronomical Observatory (IAO) of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) spread over 1,073 sq km. It is one of the highest places in the world for observing celestial bodies and collecting scientific data about the universe.

Yesterday 9:49 am. According to the NCS, the quake occurred at around 4:15 am this morning at a depth of 10 kilometers. It occurred 70 km northwest of Yuksom. The 2022-23 crop year (July-June), a new record and higher by around 8 MT (2.5%) than the output in the previous crop year.The increase is mainly backed by the all-time record production of the paddy (131 MT), wheat (112 MT) and pulses (28 MT).
