May 2010 Weather at Visakhapatnam a special report by KLN

trusciencetrutechnology@blogspot.com Volume 2010, Issue No.5, Dated 31st May 2010.
A Special report on Weather of Month of May 2010
Professor Kotcherlakota Lakshmi Narayana.
ABSTRACT:

A significant conclusion of the present analysis of May 2010 weather at Visakhapatnam is that the warm weather happens when the dust accumulation is more and there would be no wind whenever the weather is loaded with water vapour. Alternative phenomenon of warm and windy cold weather of Visakhapatnam needs much more weather pattern studies and its not just that sea temperature profile is the main culprit. 85% relative humidity does keeps the people from sweating and in spite that the weather is cool. The author has some ingenious ideas of controlled weather in Visakhapatnam city.

30th April 2010:

Following 30th April 2010 rain thunder in Andhra Pradesh, the Tuesday outburst of Ash ejections of from The Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano on the 4th May 2010, engulfing Ireland, North Ireland and Scotland there were heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh in about eight districts. Kadappha, Kurnool, Chitoor, Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur, East Godavari, Tirupati had the brunt of it causing damage to several crops. Thunderbolts struck at Kurnool killing 4 people, in Tirupathi that killed two people and in Nugur one person died.
On 5th May 2010 there was sudden outburst of rain in the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh with cumulonimbus dark and thick clouds, at Srikalulum, Bapatla, Guntur, and Vizianagaram districts with hailstones and thunders. Why that Visakhapatnam is didn’t receive heavy rain but only dramatic changes of weather pattern are not quite clear or easily explainable. It went with scorching morning brilliant red, saffron and yellowish orange sky, which soon by 2:00PM turned into a huge mass of cumulonimbus cloud cover dropping the temperatures by 4 to 5 degrees. In the morning it was 2 to 3 degrees more than the normal temperature. Within an half an hour of evening 4:00PM there were heavy gales that raised dust and haze making visibility and movement on the roads very hazardous. By 4:30PM the sun shown again with the intense warmth of summer.

HYDERABAD/VIZAG:
In the wake of a powerful earthquake in Indonesia which triggered fears of tsunami, the nine coastal districts were put on high alert. The district administrations were on complete guard and fishermen were told not to venture into sea.
Though the authorities did not issue any tsunami warnings, precautionary measures were taken by issuing alert warnings following orders from the state government. In Visakhapatnam and other port cities, visitors and tourists were told to stay away from the beaches. Control rooms were opened in Vizag, Machilipatnam, Rajahmundry and other coastal towns. Sources said since AP has a coastline of 974 kms -- the longest in the country -- the officials didn't want to take any chances. The East Godavari administration put 13 mandals on high alert and shifted people living in low-lying areas to safer places. In Narsapur in West Godavari and Singarayakonda in Nellore district, the sea waters entered the coast 100 metres inside. "From Srikakulam in north to Nellore in the south, all the fishermen villages were issued warnings and help lines set up for emergency," a senior official said. Ramakrishna beach in Vizag which usually is chocke blocked with enormous number of visitors, during the weekends looked like a curfew zone with the tourists and locals staying away after the authorities issued the warnings. Later in the evening, people started reaching the beach.
The tsunami had claimed 105 lives in coastal Andhra, especially in south coastal districts in 2005. Meanwhile, the Centre has announced that there's no tsunami threat to the mainland and shores.A tsunami warning was issued but was later lifted after no major waves materialized. The quake was recorded at 12.59 pm (12.29 pm IST) with the epicenter 66 km south-west of Meulaboh in West Aceh district, according to the Meteorology, Geophysics and Climatology Agency. A blackout was reported in North Aceh regency and Meulaboh — the closest town with the quake’s epicenter — where a telephone line was also cut off, local media reported A magnitude 7.4 earthquake hit the coast of Indonesia on Sunday, at a depth of 18 miles, according to local meteorologists. The earthquake near the Aceh territory on the the island of Sumatra triggered a tsunami warning, which was withdrawn within an hour after sea-level readings found the tsunami had not been generated. The U.S. Geological Survey, which monitors global seismic activity, estimated the quake's magnitude at 7.4 and said it had a depth of 61.4 kilometers beneath the seafloor. The quake's epicenter was located some 220 km south-southeast of Banda Aceh, the capital of Aceh Province, where was felt. It was also felt in neighboring North Sumatra Province. Indonesia's Meteorological, Geological and Climatology Agency put the quake's magnitude at 7.2. It said after lifting the tsunami warning that a small tsunami of only 20 centimeters was generated. The quake caused panic among local residents in Aceh, with local media reporting that people in several regencies of the province fled their houses following the temblor. A blackout was reported in North Aceh Regency. Indonesia, with more than 17,000 islands, is prone to earthquakes, as it sits on the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire.

The Noepakot and Thorvaldseyri farms are dwarfed by a plume of ash rising from a volcano erupting under the Eyjafjallajokull glacier, as seen from Hvolsvollur, Iceland, Wednesday, May 5, 2010.
The ash, stretching up from the surface to about 6,000 meters, has forced the closure of a number of airports in northern Italy. The Italian civil aviation authorities announced there would be no flying over a large part of the north of the country most of Sunday due to the ash cloud. Until the volcano in southern Iceland stops its emissions, the future course of Europe's ash crisis will depend heavily on the prevailing winds. The eruption of the glacier-capped volcano has shown no signs of stopping since it began belching ash April 13. The five-day closure of European airspace last month due to the ash cloud forced the cancellation of more than 100,000 flights.
ANDHRA PRADESH:

Kotthagudem has experienced 50deg C weather on Saturday 14th May 2010 Manchryala 46.8, Nizambad 46.4, Guntur Rentachintala 46.1kadappah,Nalgonda, Nandhyala, Atmakur, Rangareddi 44.0, Kurnool, Hyderabad 43.5, Vizianagram, Maheboobnagar, Tirupati 42.4, Anatapuram,41.6, Rajahmundry 41, Vijayawada , Kakinada, Ongole, 39.8, Visakha, Srikakulum 37 have registered on 14th May 2010. Four districts rain with hailstones and devastating windy gales on Thursday night and Friday i.e. 13th and 12th may 2010 uprooted electric poles, trees, and house tops in karimnagar(peddabokur in Peddapalli mandal, and kalva srirampuramth under bolt and Sankarpatnam mandal thadikalu village), Kadapph(pulivendala), Nallgonda(mallepalli, chivalam mandalam thljaraopeta, penpahad mandal dharmapuram) and maheboobnagar (shadnagar thunder bolt)
Vizag 39.2 deg C on 9th may 2010, same day from 11:00am to 5:00pm tsunami warning due to earthquake in Indonesia on the 8th night 2010. This has any way in just one day, filled the totally dried area of, Pralay Sarasu at Sriharikota space station. 44.5 deg C Hyderabad highest in 11 years was recorded on Tuesday 11th May 2010.

Sunday May 16th, 2010

Entire week 8th to 15th may 2010 warm sun in AP. The phenomenal day the Sunday May 16th, 2010 seems to have spurred unknown events. The afternoon of that day the Ice land’s volcano has puffed out again brownish smoke to heights of 3k to 7k meters vertical and the aircraft flying over Europe and Scandinavian countries etc have collected the data on the density of the particulate matter. England, Netherlands and Germany country scientists are analyzing this data on ejected smoke densities.
There were thunderbolt deaths in the Andhra Pradesh in the afternoon of that fateful day in Mahaboobnagar, Aclasspuram fields and in Kurnool maddikerra village. But gales destroyed houses in erigiri region of kothalam mandalam. Adilabad, chittoor, Medak, Prakasam, Srikakulum, Visakha, EGD, Rangareddi, Kurnool, Kadappah, Nellore, Anathpuram the heatwave killed 56 people. But Hyderabad had a very heavy rain uprooting trees and electric poles and destroyed weak construction works in the evening of the Sunday.
The day is a festival day for Indians known as the Akshayya truthiya when sowing of seeds of vegetable beerakayulu and purchase of gold on a large scale has been made.

The weather following, the week of Laila cyclone during 17th to 22nd May 2010, has again became very warm reminding of the 11day Rohini Katthera with recorded on the 25th May 2010, maximum temperature of 47.2 at Ramgudam, Nizamabad 47, Hyderabad 44, Tirupati 42.6, Machillipatam 42.3, Vijayawada 42, Kavali 41.6, Nellore & Ongole 41.2, Kurnool 40.1, Narsapuram 39 with high relative humidity. The people in Visakhapatnam but found the 22nd and 23rd mornings of extreme chilly weather and wore protective clothing and as well used the bed sheets to cover in the wee hours.
PVSSharma astrologically predicted nearly fifteen days in advance that there would be rains on the 18-19th May 2010 and I have not believed it, astrological based reading of the events to occur. His next prediction is for 26th and 27th May 2010 for heavy rains to occur didn’t materialise but there was rain on the 29th early morning.

The kothapalli worst affected by the two one major and the other micro storms of the dates 16th to 2oth May 2010 and 29th May 2010 morning two hours (4 to 7AM) respectively with the 10 meters inflow of the sea with change of the colour of the sea water. People are very sceptical about weather phenomenon since the turbulent waters of the Bay of Bengal has sustained last fortnight or so and even the present author noticed that on the 27th evening there was an unusual turbulent slashing of waves at Vizag coast with peculiar noisy slashing of the shore. It sustained throughout the night. And surprisingly Kotthagudem recorded on Saturday 29th May 2010, the temperature of 49.32 deg C and a formation of a low-pressure area in the Arabian Sea of the west coast. Only Visakhapatnam recorded 33.2 deg C while all other cities in AP were reeling under above 40deg C temperature.

On 29th May 2010, early morning there was sudden outburst of turbulent cyclone heavy rain from 4:30 AM to 7:00AM that was very peculiar in the sense, it exhibited whirling winds, rain and gales at certain localities like Arilova etc cutting of High tension wires and because of it the entire city of Visakhapatnam suffered total disruption of electric supply till the evening 6:30PM.
Below image shows the dust cloud over the morning of 31st May 2010 sky of Maharanipeta, Narasimha Ashram, Visakhaptnam that justifies a significant finding made by the author on the weather pattern.

CONCLUSIONS:

A significant conclusion of the present analysis of May 2010 weather at Visakhapatnam is that the warm weather happens when the dust accumulation is more and there would be no wind whenever the weather is loaded with water vapour. Alternative phenomenon of warm and windy cold weather of Visakhapatnam needs much more weather pattern studies and its not just that sea temperature profile is the main culprit. 85% relative humidity does keeps the people from sweating and in spite that the weather is cool. The author has some ingenious ideas of controlled weather in Visakhapatnam city.

PREAMBLE:
From 1st April 2010 the Visakhapatnam weather was of the Summer Heat and gradually spurred to high temperatures. Luckily the weather at the Coastal region of Maharanipeta to Bheemilipatnam was one of a cool winds and the summer heat was not felt that much either on the roads or inside the homes excepting Apartment dwellings of huge complexes. The hot summer sun was felt of course, by many a people at Visakhapatnam city and in the several wards of GVMC and even the beach coast exhibited on the 11th April 2010, a wide scenario of colours.

Exceptionally noteworthy is the Yellowish shades of the beach sands. Deep blue colour of the sea is a proof of the varied constituents of the rough Bay of Bengal Sea

12th April 2010
A new sunspot (provisionally numbered AR1062) is rapidly emerging in the sun's southern hemisphere. GEOMAGNETIC STORM: A coronal mass ejection hit Earth's magnetic field at approximately 12:30 UT on April 11th. The impact sparked a G2-class geomagnetic storm with auroras over Scandinavia, Scotland, Canada and northern-tier US states such as Maine, Michigan and Wisconsin. Vertical rays of green light shot as high as 20o above the horizon," says McKenna. The interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) near Earth is pointing south, an orientation that favours strong geomagnetic activity. High-latitude sky watchers should remain alert for auroras tonight. For the first time this year, geomagnetic storm ignited auroras over the continental United States. "The lights were bright enough to produce a reflection from the surface of Lake Superior," says photographer Shawn Malone, who recorded the scene from a beach in Marquette, Michigan:

A new sunspot has rapidly emerged at the circled location. The biggest prominence in years has leapt off the surface of the sun and on Saturday, April 11th, 2010 a coronal mass ejection (CME) hit Earth's magnetic field. The impact caused a G2-class geomagnetic storm and, for the first time this year, ignited auroras over the continental United States. There are no large coronal holes on the Earth-facing side of the sun on 12th April 2010.
The combined effect of the Prominence and the Coronal Mass Ejection by the Sun and the piled ash debris to a height of 11km of the Iceland’s volcano has drastically changed the Earth’s Atmosphere.
Devastating Super-Rain:
Three states in India Bihar, Bengal and Assam experienced a super-rain on the mid-night of Tuesday, the 13th April, 2010. It was accompanied by windy-gales of 125km/hr that destroyed several thousands of houses uprooted poles, trees and road, bridge and railway communication systems. More than 200 people died and several were injured. Bihar kishanganja, supala, purnia districts were affected. Assam Dhubri district and capital city of Bengal viz. Kolkata and north Dinajapur district were also devastated by the winds and heavy rain.
Andhra Pradesh:
Karimnagar bore the brunt of Heat Wave summer resulting in the death of 12 people. of age group 16-35. While the windy-gales lashed the Kaddaph district kamalpuram mandalam, Chittoor district kvpalle mandalam. Thunderbolts killed one old lady Nagamma (65yrs) in gajulapalli. The Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 12th, 13th And 14th instants of April, 2010 the windy-gales were very destructive. Kurnool last all its Beetelnut (tamalapakula) crop worth Rs.80 lacks. Rajampeta, rachitic, pulivendala, badwale there was loss of Boppai, banana, mango crops. In Nellore and Prakasam districts the heavy rain with windy-gales destroyed the crops. Boykonda gangamma temple tower damaged by a thunderbolt and scattered away the idols erected on the
Temple dome. Nearly 20feet lengthy faults were formed on the temple tower structure. Also the Madanapalli Lord Venketeswara temple (pillar). Dwajastambba collapsed. 2000 acres of tobacco etc crops were destroyed.

The Iceland's volcano:
The Iceland's volcano has spewed about 140 million cubic metres of ash over the past three days, into the air from Eyjafjallajokull volcano and was blown across northern Europe, Icelandic scientists have said on the 19th April 2010 at 10:00AM. The Icelandic volcanologists said most of the ejected material was fine-grained airborne tephra, but 30 million cubic metres of material was deposited around the volcano vent and another 10 million cubic metres in the glacial lagoon of Gigjokulslon. They said the average magma discharge rate of 750 tonnes per second was 10-20 times greater than the average of the eruption in late March. Poland, Finland, Sweden and Netherlands have been covered with the ejected ash of the Volcano.
Its crate produced lava, which indicated that the nature of the eruption has changed. Visibility near the Eyjafjallajokull glacier was almost nil as falling ash saturated the air and covered agricultural fields with a thin layer of dust which could be dangerous to animals if eaten. The molten rock created new pathways for water to run into the crater, causing more explosions and a higher level of ash production. The column of ash rising from the volcano was as high as 11 km when it started erupting earlier last week.
Earth Quakes and Tremors:
April 17th, 2010 Saturday at 9:00AM (local time) in Tibet in Nagukya region a quake of magnitude 5.2 occurred that shook nyanrogancounty. The quake epicentre was located 60km at a depth of 10km from nayanrongacounty which is situated at 5000meters height and has very little population.
The Qinghai quake of magnitude 7.1R happened on 14th April 2010 on Wednesday morning at a depth of 10 km, which is slightly shallower than the recent Haiti quake. This area is not only on the border of Tibet. This is in the heart of the Tibetan area, the eastern Tibetan area of Kham and the Chinese authorities do recognise it as the Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Yushu, which is in present day Qinghai (85% destroyed) in eastern Tibet. That is about 800 kilometres of southwest of Xining, the provincial capital. The epicentre of the earthquake was a sparsely populated rural area about 50 kilometres west of a town called Jyeku which is the government's seat of the prefecture the provincial capital. Several dams developed cracks on the structures.
And the quake was also felt as far as away as Szechuan and Chamdo in the Tibetan autonomous area. And I think not only has the loss of life been devastating, but also the impact on Tibetan religious life, cultural life, a famous 13th Century monastery in the area was completely destroyed. Also, 25 monks there were killed and some more are missing, so it is a very bleak picture indeed. The impact on Tibetan religious life, cultural life, a famous 13th Century monastery in the area was completely destroyed. Also, 25 monks there were killed and some more are missing, so it is a very bleak picture indeed. The dead Buddhists were cremated under Vedic chanting. Eighteen after -shocks made the relief operations as dangerous.
The Sichuan next to Qinghai province earthquake (epicentre Yushu) of magnitude 7.9R in China, in May 2008 was caused by a "thrust" movement, this latest event was a "strike-slip" event, which involves sideways movement along a fault. "India bumped into Asia (millions of years ago) and threw up the Tibetan plateau. That high ground is now being squeezed out towards the east and down towards the south-east.

(UKPA) – 7 hours ago of 19th April 2010 Seven die as quake hits Afghanistan:
A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck in mountains north of Afghanistan's capital early on Monday 19th April 2010, killing at least seven people and injuring 30, officials said. The quake hit just before 1am (2030 GMT on Sunday 18th April 2010) in Samangan province, between Kabul and the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif, according to the province's deputy governor, Kulam Sakhi Baghlani. The quake was felt in Kabul as well as the neighbouring countries of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Roads and communications are sparse in the area, and casualty reports take time to reach authorities.Baghlani said three districts of scattered mud-walled villages were affected, with more than 300 homes damaged and dozens of head of livestock killed. Landslides sparked by the quake had blocked roads, making even more arduous what was already an eight-hour drive along winding mountain trails from the provincial capital of Aybak."The quake would have been felt much more intensely up in the mountains," Baghlani said. He said three civil defence units had been dispatched to check on the damage and casualties.
The 21st April 2010 thunderstorm:
Images of the fallen rain drops on the cement pavement of the house on 21st April 2010 at 15:07PM and Sun spectrum by Coconut tree leaves of April 21st 2010 at 7: 34AM are given below

There was a low depression formation near to the coast of Visakhapatnam and the cloud & thunder without any shower occurred around 2.00Pm to 4.00PM on the 21st April 2010. But the 21st April 2010 thunderstorm of cumulus nimbus clouds devastated about 1.20lack acres of farm and crop lands spread over 9 districts of Andhra Pradesh, by the wind, gales and the hailstones. This has just happened within a few hours of time in the mid-afternoon of 21st April 2010.
23rd April 2010 onwards the Visakhapatnam weather has again became one of a sweltering summer heat and the people were afraid to walk during the mid-day on the roads. Luckily the effect of low-depression that has fizzled out left some cool breeze occasionally that provided relaxation to the sweating public. It drizzled for just 2 minutes at 19:19PM on the 25th April 2010.
And the above images of the Western Sky taken on the 26th April 2010 remarkably shows the Air-Glows of the dust and fine ash matter filled Earth’s Equatorial atmosphere. Shri Ramprasad of MVD High School Physical Science Teacher has remarked that even the ancient people have poetical documented the colour appearance of the sky in terms of Red and Yellow hues as that in mythology of Goddess Parvathi sprinkling her dress material water colours to drape the enchanting beauty of the sky.
CONCLUSION:
The weather in Southern Peninsular India and especially at Visakhapatnam that city, which hasn’t received any thunder storm to-date, offered a fine observable polluted sky and the Ionosphere to grasp some of the Global environmental effects in the Atmosphere.Visakhapatnam City has not received any rain during the month of April 2010 in spite of the expected super-rains in the tropical hot regions of Andhra Pradesh.
