Aug.11, 2021: Unique particle that existed during birth of universe spotted, could shed light on nuclear forces.  23 mns ago: India Today Web Desk  23 minutes agoThe collider has so far detected up to 62 such particles, which were previously unknown and unseen to the world. This new discovery could help physicists understand how particles interact through the strong nuclear force. The new particle was detected by one of the four giant detectors in the 27-kilometre circular tunnel that holds the LHC, just like previous discoveries. The researchers spotted the particle while they were going through data from a proton collision when they found the first signatures of 'tetraquark'. The discovery holds significance as tetraquarks probably existed only during the first instants of the Universe. "The particles existed only during the first instants of the Universe, when all matter was compressed in an extremely tight space," Vanya Belyaev from the Institute for Theoretical and Experimental Physics and a collaborator with Polyakov told the journal Nature. According to experts, the tetraquark is highly unusual as most known particles are either made of two or three quarks. The first such particle with four quarks was detected in 2003 at the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK) in Tsukuba, Japan. The particle, which has stunned researchers, has a mass around four times that of a proton and "was nailed with a margin of error nearly 3,000 times better than in the discovery of the Higgs boson," Nature reported.
