Feb. 16, 2021: The soot, the researchers say, had hardened over time, become resinous, sticky and had developed a shiny character. Even after touching the soot with bare hands, it did not leave black stains on the fingers.  The soot, interestingly, was found to be rich in quartz and had some amounts of plagioclase and dolomite. A few caves had compartments inside with interconnections too. Metallic elements like black iron or manganese found on the roof indicate a biogenic origin of the deposits, the study highlighted. the human activity could date back to 11-12th century. This is because of the presence of structures closely related to Buddhism in the vicinity. It is believed that the route was frequented by Buddhist monks.

Feb. 23, 2021: 'Ghostly' neutrino from star-shredding black hole reveals cosmic particle accelerator of epic proportions. Charles Q. Choi  1 hr ago. A ghostly particle that smashed into Antarctica in 2019 has been traced back to a black hole tearing apart a star while acting like a giant cosmic particle accelerator, a new study finds. To discover the origins of such a powerful neutrino, the scientists traced its path through space. They found it likely came from the galaxy designated "2MASX J20570298+1412165" in the constellation Delphinus, the dolphin, and is located about 750 million light-years from Earth. The first time, in 2018, astronomers tracked such a neutrino back to the blazar TXS 0506+056, a huge elliptical galaxy with a fast-spinning supermassive black hole at its heart. This light likely came from a black hole shredding a star, a so-called tidal disruption event dubbed "AT2019dsg." The researchers suggest a star came too close to a supermassive black hole at the center of the galaxy 2MASX J20570298+1412165, one about 30 million times more massive than the sun. It then got ripped apart by the black hole's colossal gravity,

Feb. 27, 2021: NOSTRADAMUS PREDICTIONS: There is no doubt: the climate is constantly changing. Out of all the apocalyptic scenarios which might come true, the sea level rise is the most dramatic. Presently, 50% of the world population lives in coastal areas. A prediction of a possible disaster can be seen by following the example of Newton City from Alaska, which, in less than five years, will be swallowed up by rising waters. The small community of 400 people will not be the only one affected. The current estimations suggest that Venice will be uninhabitable by 2100, and Los Angeles and Amsterdam will be abandoned five years later. 1. Zombie apocalypse. A Russian scientist will create a biological weapon-virus that can turn people into zombies. The end of humanity may be closer than we think. 2. Biblical famine.Nostradamus predicts that the first signs of the end of the world will be hunger, earthquakes, various diseases and epidemics. They will happen more often. The 2020 coronavirus pandemic marks the beginning of a series of adverse events that will affect populations around the world. A catastrophe of immense proportions will return us to the past, and most of the world’s population will not be able to overcome this curse. 3. Muslims will take over Europe. The “camel” from the prophecies of Nostradamus is a symbol of the Arab population that floods all of Europe. It is unclear whether 2021 will see a new wave of emigration, or demographic projections of low fertility in Europe and large numbers of refugees will catalyze this change. 4. Solar storms. In 2021, there will be powerful solar storms that can cause great damage to the planet. It is believed that Nostradamus warned: “We will see how the water rises, and the earth hides under it.” The harmful effects of climate change will lead to many wars and conflicts as the world competes for resources and massive migration ensues. 5. The asteroid will collide with the Earth or come close to it.“In the sky, a person will see fire and a long trail of sparks.” This can be interpreted as impending natural disasters, but according to other interpretations of this quatrain, we are talking about a large asteroid that will collide with Earth. Once in the Earth’s atmosphere, the asteroid will heat up and appear to be on fire in the sky. Indeed, NASA has announced that there is a very real danger that asteroid 2009 KF1 will collide with Earth on May 6, 2021. 6. A terrible earthquake will destroy California. According to the interpretation of the quatrain, written by Nostradamus, an extremely powerful earthquake will destroy California in 2021. Nostradamus predicts that a massive earthquake will hit the New World (“western lands”), and California is the most obvious place where it could happen. According to astrologers, the verse “Mercury in Sagittarius, Saturn is extinguished” indicates the next date when the planets Mars and Saturn will be in this position in the sky – November 25, 2021. 7. Chips will be implanted into the heads of American soldiers. American soldiers will be the first human robots to save humanity. The chip implanted in his brain should give us the digital intelligence we need to go beyond biology. 8. Pope Francis will bring people closer to the church. No matter how many years Pope Francis remains the leader of the Catholic Church, he will leave a wonderful and impressive legacy in his wake. The church will become a lifeboat for more and more people.

The stunning sight is actually an optical illusion created by the setting sun, but only when the weather conditions are just right. The Horsetail Fall is a seasonal waterfall that flows in the winter and spring. Because the so-called 'firefall' needs a warm enough temperature to melt snow at the top as well as the sun to set at the right angle and clear skies, the effect is not visible every year. The firefall also needs evenings with a clear sky, as even a slight haziness of cloudiness can diminish the effect.

Feb. 02, 2021: MIT astrophysicists detected stars on the edge of Tuscana II, which sits 163,000 light years from Earth, in a configuration that is far from the center. Because the stars are trapped in the tiny galaxy's gravitational pull, scientists speculate dark matter is what's keeping them there. This is the first sign that Tuscana II, which is one of the first galaxies in the universe, hosts an extended dark matter halo – and experts speculated it is three to five times more massive than believed. The idea of dark matter, originally known as 'missing matter,' was formulated in 1933, following the discovery that the mass of all stars in the Coma cluster of the galaxies used about one percent of the mass needed to keep galaxies from escaping the cluster's gravitational pull.Because the stars are located so far the center of Tuscana II, the team can only come to the conclusion that dark matter is keeping them in the galaxy's gravitational pull. 'Without dark matter, galaxies would just fly apart.

Feb.02, 2021: In eight observations with the CSIRO's Parkes radio telescope over a period of five months in 2020, the researchers observed the magnetar's radio pulses distinctly change in character – resembling a pulsar's pulses in May, then changing to a different form of bright/weak flickering in June, before adopting a mysterious mix of both pulsar-like and magnetar-like radio pulses in July. While the mixed messages being relayed by Swift J1818.0–1607 can't fully be explained, the researchers suggest the fluctuations could represent a form of stellar evolution that we don't yet entirely understand. The new observations of Swift J1818.0–1607 suggest the magnetic axis of the magnetar isn't aligned with its rotation axis, but instead dips into its southern hemisphere. If so, that's a first for a magnetar – which usually have their magnetic fields aligned with their spin axis.

This is likely because moonlight is available during the hours following dusk. They have populated the steppe for millennia and are one of the world's last remaining nomadic communities.  Italian photographer Michele Martinelli, 41, captured the images of this rare community during a 20-day trip to the Mongolian steppe in April 2017. Nomadic life revolves around yurts, or ghers, meaning home or household, which are compactible and easily transportable circular houses. Mongol nomads transport these houses across the steppe between two and four times every year when they migrate to find the best pasture for their animals. Between February and April, nomads typically brave temperatures of -40C to make a 100-mile trek across the Altai mountains in western Mongolia. Though many of the family's wordly goods can now be moved by truck, the animals still need to cross the mountains on foot. Women are heavily involved with caring for their family's animals and regularly milk the yaks and sheep early in the morning.

Helium (He), neon (Ne), argon (Ar), krypton (Kr), xenon (Xe), and the radioactive radon (Rn) are the six naturally occurring noble gases. These have the highest ionization energy, which means it takes a lot of energy to knock the electron off the atom and generate plasma. Similarly, when glass tubes, containing different noble gases, are brought closer to the coil, creating a high electric field, they glow up in colours of plasma. The argon plasma ball appears purple, while krypton is bluish. Of all the noble gases, the xenon plasma ball is the dimmest of all. With no electrodes connected, the plasma balls glow in our fingers because of the coil. One can even see the light of the plasma ball fluctuate depending on the distance between the tube and the coil.

In their study, Abergel’s team used a variety of advanced techniques to learn more about the isotope einsteinium-254. This is the most stable form of the element, with a half-life of 276 d. First, they synthesized a 250 ng sample. They placed their sample in a specialized holder, which was 3D printed at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. With this setup, they could analyse the sample using X-ray absorption spectroscopy, carried out at the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource. einsteinium (Es), the heaviest element on the periodic table that can currently be generated in quantities sufficient to enable classical macroscale studies1. Here we characterize a coordination complex of einsteinium, using less than 200 nanograms of 254Es (withhalf-life of 275.7(5) days), with an organic hydroxypyridinone-based chelating ligand. X-ray absorption spectroscopic and structural studies are used to determine the energy of the L3-edge and a bond distance of einsteinium. Photophysical measurements show antenna sensitization of EsIII luminescence; they also reveal a hypsochromic shift on metal complexation, which had not previously been observed in lower-atomic-number actinide elements. These findings are indicative of an intermediate spin–orbit coupling scheme in which j–j coupling (whereby single-electron orbital angular momentum and spin are first coupled to form a total angular momentum, j) prevails over Russell–Saunders coupling. Together with previous actinide complexation studies2, our results highlight the need to continue studying the unusual behaviour of the actinide elements, especially those that are scarce and short-lived. ilable at https://doi.org/10.1038/s41586-020-03179-3. Feb. 09, 2021: 28 mins ago: Could there be a cluster of antimatter stars orbiting our galaxy? Paul Sutter. The anti-stars would continuously shed their antimatter components out into the cosmos, and could even be detectable as a small percentage of the high-energy particles hitting.   But whatever that process was — and I should mention that the detailed physics of that antimatter-killing mechanism in the early universe are currently beyond known physics, so there's a lot up in the air here — it may not have been entirely perfect.  A team of theoretical astrophysicists calculated what would happen if one of the globular clusters orbiting the Milky Way was actually an anti-cluster, as reported in a paper recently appearing in the preprint journal arXiv. All those processes would release tons of antiparticles, sending them flowing out of the anti-cluster and into the nearby volume of the universe, including the Milky Way. Including our solar system, where those antiparticles would appear as just another part of the cosmic ray gang.

Fig.6 Anti-Neutrinos.
The OPAL reactor produces a vast stream of anti-neutrinos that move unscathed through matter as they interact only extremely weakly with it. The evidence that neutrinos exhibit time symmetry violation has been growing in recent years and currently stands at 99.7% certainty.  The experiment will test the theory because anti-neutrinos produced by the reactor represent a time violation field that has an inverse square law fall-off with distance from the core. The theory predicts that the time accumulated by a clock depends on the amount of time violation in its local region. A clock placed near the reactor core is predicted to lose synchronicity with the more distant clock. This means that one of the test clocks near the reactor, may show some time dilation, or difference in elapsed time, when compared with a clock a short distance away. Atomic clocks are used in tests of fundamental physics to detect tiny effects at the quantum scale because of their outstanding accuracy and precision, which approaches parts in 10^17 to 10^19 for the best clocks.

Fig.7 magnetic structure of Iron phosphorus trisulfide FePS3.
Illustration of the magnetic structure of iron phosphorus trisulfide (FePS3), a two-dimensional material which undergoes a transition from an insulator to a metal when compressed. "This is unexpected, as the newly-freely-roaming electrons in a newly conducting material can no longer be locked to their parent iron atoms, generating magnetic moments there - unless the conduction is coming from an unexpected source." While we don't yet have all the answers as to what's happening here, during compression the 'spin' of the electrons in the material seems to be a source of magnetism – and the phenomenon can be tuned depending on how much pressure FePS3 is subjected to.

Feb. 11, 2021: 7 hrs ago: BENGALURU: Indian astronomers have reported one of the strongest flares from a feeding supermassive black hole or blazar called BL Lacertae, some 10 million light-years away. And, the analysis of the flare from this blazar — one of the oldest astronomical objects — can help trace the mass of the black hole and the source of this emission. The team detected the exceptionally high flare on January 16, 2021, with the help of Sampurnanand Telescope (ST) and 1.3m Devasthal Fast Optical Telescopes located in Nainital. Till date, only about 5,000 blazars are known. And, of these, only about 50 are prominent, allowing continuous/long-term observation.

Fig. 11 Higgs Decay strange quantum universe.
Scientists have spotted the first evidence of a rare Higgs boson decay, expanding our understanding of the strange quantum universe. Now, researchers using ATLAS and CMS have found evidence for a rare Higgs boson decay in which the subatomic particle decays into one photon and two leptons, a type of elementary particle that can be charged or neutral. (Electrons and muons, a similar type of subatomic particle, are two examples of charged leptons.) Specifically, they found evidence that the Higgs boson can decay into either a photon and a pair of electrons, or a photon and a pair of muons with opposite charge.

Feb.14, 2021: 19 hours ago: Parts of river Thames freeze for first time in 60 years. London and UK are in the grips of heavy winter, with Storm Darcy bringing the mercury down to -20C in some parts of the country. The extreme freeze has had a marked effect in London as large parts of river Thames have frozen for the first time since 1963. London has been experiencing sub-zero temperatures. UK experienced coldest night in 25 years on Friday. It was a regular occurrence for the Thames to freeze during winters centuries ago. It was during this time the 'frost fairs' would be held on the ice. It was so thick that even elephants could walk across the ice sheet. Last of such fairs was held in the year 1814.

Feb.15, 2021: 2 hrs ago: Scientists are finally figuring out how much dark matter — the almost imperceptible material said to tug on everything, yet emit no light — really weighs. The new estimate helps pin down how heavy its particles could be — with implications for what the mysterious stuff actually is. The research sharply narrows the potential mass of dark matter particles, from between an estimated 10^minus 24 electronvolts (eV) and 10^19 Gigaelectron volts (GeV) , to between 10^minus 3 eV and 10^7eV — a possible range of masses many trillions of trillions of times smaller than before. The findings could help dark matter hunters focus their efforts on the indicated range of particle masses — or they might reveal a previously unknown force is at work in the universe.
