Aug. 18, 2021: New clean energy source? Nuclear scientists hail 'historic' fusion breakthrough.  11 hours ago. On Tuesday, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California announced that an experiment carried out in its National Ignition Facility has made a breakthrough in nuclear fusion research. In the experiment, lasers were used to heat a small target or fuel pellets. These pellets containing deuterium and tritium fused and produced more energy. The team noted that they were able to achieve a yield of more than 1.3 megajoules.Centre for Inertial Fusion Studies at Imperial College London, told BBC.com: "The megajoule of energy released in the experiment is indeed impressive in fusion terms, but in practice, this is equivalent to the energy required to boil a kettle."

Aug. 18, 2021:  A moderate earthquake of magnitude 3.3R was reported in the Peechi-Vazhani Wild life sanctuary areas of Thrissur district on Wednesday. Tremor lasted for three seconds was experienced with loud sound, were felt at Peechi, Pattikkkad, Vaniampara and Kizhakkumchery (several houses developed cracks in the hill area in Palakad district) areas.  The epictre was in the forest area of Peechi and neighbouring villages and felt the tremors twice one at 1:10 pm  and another at 2:40 PM. Cracks were triggered by the second tremor and said experienced it for five seconds along with a thunderous sound. Other places where tremors were felt are Valkulambu, Kannachi Parutha, Rankkandi, Pothuchadi, VET, Odamthodu and Kavilupara.

Scientists have found a strange "break" in the spiral arms our Milky Way galaxy that could tell us more about  its galactic history. The grouping of young stars and gassy regions is described by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) as looking like "a splinter poking out from a plank of wood" from the plane of the spiral Milky Way's arms.

Aug. 21, 2021: From 2Am to almost evening the thunderous rain fell in Visakhapatnam and brought down the heat on Friday, 20 August. For nearly four days, the rains saved the farmers with their plantations. Payakaraopeta, Nakkapalli, Kotapuratta, and in Visakhapatnam city from 2AM to 10AM the continuos heavy rainfall occurred. NTPC Limited on Saturday has started operations at India’s largest floating solar PV project at its Simhadri thermal station in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The project was declared open after commissioning a 15 MW floating solar project at Simhadri thermal station. With this, the total installed capacity at the facility reached 25 MW. On commercial operation w.e.f. 10:00 Hrs. of 21.08.2021,” the state-run producer NTPC said in the regulatory filing.

Aug. 22, 2021:  A battery powered by human sweat. The soft stretchable battery comprises a printed silver flakeelectrodes that generate electricity in presence of sweat. Power is transmitted to wearable devices also smart watches and arm strapes and can be operated via bluetooth. Battery conforms the skin of users by well-synthesized hydrophillic elastometric binder. Cycling on a stationary bicycle for 30 minutes was able to generate a voltage of 4.2V and output powr of 3.9mW enough to operate devices via bluetooth. Dr. Thangavel, Lee Pol See and Lyu jian are the colloborators of this invention.

The Thwaites Glacier in Antarctica, that’s more commonly known as the ‘Doomsday Glacier’ is getting a double blow of heat -- from rising temperatures due to climate change as well as due to Earth’s internal temperatures -- intensifying its melting and subjecting the planet to exponential sea level rise. 
Aug. 23, 2021: Achutapuram: ;INVADING SEA AT PUDIMADAKA:  Compared to 35 years ago, the Pudimadaka renonwed as the biggest Fisherfolk Panchayati, had the sea about 500 feet away. In British occupancy near one hill horses were kept and near another hill Elephants were living. These from the shore were about 500 meters away. Near the Elephant hill Shivari Jalaripalem used to exist. Those days of British rule the sea was behind the two hills. Presently they are 500 meters away from the shore and people need to take boats to reach those places. In 1970s Pudimadaka bus stand and in between the Coconut treees were thriving, adjoining the sea coast. Near the shore there was existing a mud road connecting to reach Pallipeta and Peddaru.  In 1990 the hudhud mishap the sea moved forward and since then every year from one foot to almost three feet the sea was moving forward. All the houses near the shore have been washed out. Nearly 600 houses were built for these displaced households.  About 14000 people living here and 99% are all fisherfolk. Every year nearly 30 crores cost of fish are exported. Even before NASA announced this village has experienced the onslught of the sea. Similar was the situation at Visakhapatnam Beach, during the time Krishnadevraya married the Gajapathi daughter and couple lived presuambly for an year in the outskirts of present day sea at Visakhapatnam. That was nearly four miles away and it seems there was existing a temple there.

Aug. 25, 2021: A 5.1 R aquake occurred in A.P. coast on 24 August 2021 at 12:35:50 IST on Tuesday, lat 14.40 and Long 82.91 at a depth of 10 km located at Kakinada.  Epicentre was closest at about 250 km to the A.P coast line at Nagayalanka in Krishna District and Anthervedi in West Godavari district. Epicentre was 320 km from Chennai, 296 km from Kakinada  312 km from Machilipatnam , 330 km from Guntur, and 386 km from Tirupati. Impact was feeble and slight as per the reports. One scintist from ISRO said several years ago an earthquake occurred in the same area. Nearly 13 village people in Narasapur and Mogalure and nobody to go over the sea shore. In 2004 sunami affect on Narasapur was dominant coast line and 5 people lost their lives. Accumulation of sediments from various rivers might trigger a slip in the fault line which can lead to an earthquake. The presence of a 300 km long fracture line in the offshore region of north A.P., and about 100 km away from the coastline of Visakhapatnam. There are several fault lines in Bay of Bengal all of them can experience differential compaction. 
Aug. 25, 2021: Uttarkhand's Mana Village Herbal Garden at 11,000 Feet is India's Highest Ever. Buzz Staff  5 hours ago. The herbal garden houses 40 species of Himalayan herbs, some of which are extremely rare and endangered, reported Times of India. The report added that the garden spans three acres, and was built on van panchayat land. It was inaugurated by the Mana village Pradhan. “We have established India’s highest-altitude herbal garden with an aim to preserve the rich biodiversity of Himalayas which is under threat from climate change,” Sanjeev Chaturvedi, chief conservator of forests (research), Uttarakhand forest department, was quoted as saying by TOI.Van panchayat sarpanch Veena Badwal said that since these high-altitude herbal plants are especially vulnerable to climate change, they donated the land towards conservation of these species.

Aug. 29, 2021:  Last two days it was just drizzling only interminantly of few hours, as a result the ground is wet but not enough to accumulate with water. So, mosquitos were breeding and it has become even for me to go over the garden area. The mosquitos  were sufficiently big and they were biting me. After 5.15 PM it has become impossible for me to sit outside on the open veranhanda. It is a peculiar weather in Maharanipeta Visakhapatnam.  Today at 5 PM luckily there was a breeze.

The victim's wife, two daughters and a two-month-old infant were injured and they were rushed to a hospital. Aug. 31, 2021: Hubble Telescope Captures Amazing Cosmic Sword Piercing A Star's Heart. Bharat Sharma  6 hours ago. A cosmic sword piercing through a heart-like starry cluster has been pictured by the Hubble Space Telescope. The mesmerising sword is made from twin jets of gas which is superheated and ionised. The process was triggered by the birth of a new star from whose poles the laser light-like sword emanates. The baby star, called IRAS 05491+0247 is surrounded by an uncommon phenomenon called "Herbig-Haro object". The centre of the sword, or the heart where the newly formed star is situated is surrounded by a cloud of leftover gas and dust. The Herbig-Haro object in this photograph taken by Hubble is named HH111 and is situated 1,300 light-years away from Earth in the Orion constellation.
