ABSTRACT
EROSION THREAT :
16000sq.miles of Tamil Nadu were erroded before Rama Sethu Dam cum bridge was constructed in 18,143,930 year B.C. Further erosion was stopped by Rama Sethu, till today. 24000sq.miles more of presentTamil Nadu will be eroded if Rama Sethu is breached. (See maps Fig 1 and Fig 2.)

DATA:
from Valmiki Ramayana, Yuddha Kanda, Sarga 22,Verses 54 to 73 Gita Press, Gorakhpur, India.
Age: 18million years
Engineering Direction, Design and Supervision: by Nala
Engineering Specifications.Measure: Short Yojana=1/4 mile or 2 Furlongs (Long Yojana is 8 Miles) Yugala=Two (Amada in Telugu = 8miles)
Length: 25 miles (100 yojanas)
Width of Dam: 2.5miles (10 Yojanas)
Sand and Huge stones: Correct Material for Ocean Dam.
No. of Piers: 21
Pier to Pier gap : One Mile exactly(Statute Mile) (The statute mile of Present International standard= 1'(Minute of arc at 30 deg Latitude after taking Oblateness of earth 1/290) was used. Sin (30) =1/2 of Earth Radius= (mean radius)
Pier Size: 740 feet (1.121 Furlongs)
Satellite Picture (NASA) : shows spread of original piers from 740 feet to 0.4 to 0.8 mile by ocean wave beating and sand depositing around for 18 million years.
Upper Bridge Wooden washed away during 18 million years by Ocean tides and Waves:
made from huge tree logs of more than 20 species (names given)on pier to pier base of
elephant sized rocks brought from surrounding mountains (verses: 59-60)
Machines used: Transport of the Rocks was done by Huge Machines (Yantras =Machines) from Forests to the Oceanshore (verse: 59-60)
Measuring Tapes: 25miles long measuring tapes (sutras) were used. For short Measure, Wooden measuring Rods (Dandas) were used (verses: 62 to 64)
Binding Ropes: Dries Grass used even today in villages were used for binding the logs and other ropes (probably Coir) were used (verse 65) including cane like flexible tree bows (kashtas)
Two end piers: 125 feet each either end of Bridge connecting to Dhanuskoti on the Indian end and Talaiman on the Lanka end.
Time Frame: Construction was done in 5 days using 10 crore workers (100million) or more probably by division by labour for each facet of the Dam cum bridge.
First Day: 14Yojanas=3.5miles
Second Day: 20yojanas=5miles
Third Day: 21 yojanas=5.25miles
Fourth Day: 22yojanas=5.5miles
Fifth Day: 23yojanas=25miles: Verses: 69-73Sounds:
Tremendous noise was caused by Giant Rocks producing Giant splashes when falling into the sea and Giant Rocks cut being hewn from the mountains and by felling and cutting of huge trees. Verses: 54 to 73
