An Ode to Diode

My dear! beloved diode
What else can I give you other than this small imperfect ode?
I know it’s no comparable to your deed
It’s been twenty three years since I took your name
Like ram nam in all my lectures and circuital kam
Like a tree; gigantic
hidden in a seed; minute
you, the basic active unit
of the entire electronic art –
oh! Dearest friend in need
my entire career revolved
around you
the ways of diode
I thought and taught
Whether I am awake are in bed.
Though there is depletion
due to initial career diffusion
your immobile space charge region
Works wonders beyond our comprehension
What can we give you in return : the best
But for a small bias to make you act
Whether the given bias
Makes or breaks your ways
You hardly care and come to our service
Thus making me pour all these praises
I tell my students
diodes or but switches
with forward bias they are closed
and reverse bias, makes them open
this excellent feature
makes it rectifier
what a wonder and easy means
to convert ac in to dc: for we humans
as half wave or full wave
the least or power losses
thus we could :
with you form very handy bridges
after all isn’t transistor just two diodes back to back
though we shower it with praises for being an amplifier
tunnel diodes, zeners, leds
schottky diodes, pin diodes……………..
all are your varied forms
I recite all these names
Like Vishnu sahasra namas
in sarvakala sarva avasthas
you the basic unit of electronics
you the backbone my lectures
I praise thee! For your price less service
