Fig.1.  PSLV- C45 India's EMISAT.

PSLV-C45 carrying India's EMISAT and 28 foreign satellites lifts off. As the 27-hour countdown concluded, the nearly 50-metre tall rocket, a new variant of ISRO's trusted work horse PSLV-QL, blasted off from the second launch pad at the spaceport of Sriharikota, about 125 km from here, at 9.27 am. As the 27-hour countdown concluded, the nearly 50-metre tall rocket, a new variant of ISRO's trusted work horse PSLV-QL, blasted off from the second launch pad at the spaceport of Sriharikota, about 125 km from here, at 9.27 am. The EMISAT satellite is aimed at electromagnetic measurement. In this mission, ISRO scientists would place the satellites and payloads in three different orbits, a first for the agency. After injecting the 436 kg primary satellite EMISAT, intended for electromagnetic spectrum measurement, at around 17 minutes from lift off in a 749 km orbit, they would restart the fourth stage again. ISRO said this was the first time it has been envisaged to provide a micro-gravity environment for research organisations and academic institutes to perform experiments. The PS4-fourth stage hosts three payloads in this mission. They are automatic identification system from ISRO for maritime satellite applications capturing messages transmitted from ships. Automatic Packet Repeating System from AMSAT (Radio Amateur Satellite Corporation), India to assist amateur radio operators in tracking and monitoring position data. Advanced Retarding Potential Analyzer for lonospheric Studies (ARIS) from Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) for the structural and composition studies of ionosphere. The other 28 international satellites -- 25 3U type, two 6U type and one 2U type nano satellites -- are from Lithuania (two), Spain (one), Switzerland (one) and the United States (24).
1 April 2019:  05:46 PM. Deadly rains, ferocious thunderstorms kill 35 in Nepal.  Sunday night was a devastating one for many parts of Nepal, as heavy rains, severe lightning and strong winds have claimed at least 35 lives until now leaving 500 and more injured. The southern region of Nepal has been hit by severe Pre Monsoon activities after temperatures rose causing rainfall in these areas. The terrain, being a foothill region, contributes a lot to the damage that these showers and winds have caused over the region. The area becomes vulnerable to these activities due to its geographical location as well resulting in intense weather activities.

Standing in his saffron robes near his monastery on stilts dubbed the "floating temple" the 51-year-old monk points out to sea at the spot where the local school once stood. "This temple used to be in the middle of the village," he tells AFP in Samut Chin, about an hour south of Bangkok. 08 Apr 2019: 12:12 AM IST: Melting of Arctic ice impacts weather in India. Rising temperature is causing sea-ice to melt, impacting ocean current linked to extreme weather events. The Arctic Ocean is surrounded by some marginal seas which constantly produce new ice in winters. The ice floes are transported from the Siberian part of the Arctic Ocean, across the Central Arctic and into the 600 km wide Fram Strait--the only gateway to the Arctic Ocean from the Atlantic Ocean. This journey is enabled by a wind-driven current called the Transpolar Drift, one of the two major currents in the Arctic Ocean. The journey takes over 2-3 years, during which the ice floats increase in thickness (9.8-13.1 feet).

April 11, 2019 1:39 PM: First image of a Black Hole released! Everything you need to know about the mysterious ‘dark stars’. US-based physicist John Archibald Wheeler coined the 'black hole' term in mid-1960s. The terminology means a point located in space where matter is so compressed as to create a gravity field through which even light cannot pass through. At first glance, the image looks like that of a dark core encircled by a flame-orange halo of white-hot gas and plasma. As per an AP report, the picture was made with equipment that detects wavelengths invisible to the human eye. For this particular reason, astronomers had added colour with an aim to showcase the ferocious heat of the gas and dust that is seen as glowing at a temperature of perhaps millions of degrees. But in reality, the black hole might not bear the same look as shown in the released image. In April 2017, eight radio telescopes positioned in Arizona, Hawaii, Spain, Chile, Mexico and the South Pole zeroed in on Sagittarius A* and M87. In the end, M87 turned out to be more photogenic. Helger Rottmann from the Max Planck Institute, who was involved in the project, said the team awaited for data from the South Pole Telescope. However, this came six months later from April due to the harsh climate prevalent during the southern hemisphere winter. The date came on December 23, 2017. It took another year to compile the data to make the image.
