ABSTRACT
Sudden rain on Monday May 1, 2017 disturbed the tillers of the land, seven people died due to thunder bolts mostly in Guntur area, and Mirchi yard in Guntur, and also Srungavarapu Kota, Krishna Zillah Konduru Mandal experienced heavy rains. Heat stroke also claimed at least one death in Mundu Vari Palem, in Guntur. Nine others suffered injuries one being critically wounded due to lightning, in Chirumamilla village of Nadendla Mandal of Guntur district. Sulthan Bathery enjoys hailstone shower as rest of Kerala wilts under summer heat Tuesday 02 May 2017. Wayanad: Even when rest of the Kerala is reeling under scorching summer heat, weather changed in some areas. At least 14 people have been killed by tornadoes or flooding in the United States South and Midwest, by a storm that also dumped a rare late-season blizzard in western Kansas on Sunday, Tornadoes hit several small towns in East Texas, killing at least four people and hospitalising more than 50. At least 14 people have been killed by tornadoes or flooding in the United States South and Midwest, by a storm that also dumped a rare late-season blizzard in western Kansas on Sunday. Tornadoes hit several small towns in East Texas, killing at least four people and hospitalising more than 50. Hailstorm, rain damage crops on 4,228 hectare land in district. The sudden rain accompanied by hailstorm in the district on Sunday has hit the standing crop and orchards cultivated across 4,228.9 hectare of farmland. Many people have migrated away from Anantapur district, keeping old people and children and visit the city, only to collect the monthly ration of rice and other commodities. The plight of the city was frightening due to lack of water to households. BERLIN: May 4, 2017, 7:56 AM ET: Scientists say they have switched on the world's biggest X-ray laser, designed to capture images of structures and processes at the atomic level. Operators say the first laser pulse lasted one second, a frequency that will be increased to 27,000 flashes/ sec. On 5 May 2017, Adilabad registered 45C, Kadapa 44.5C, Nizamabad 43.4C Ramagundam and Kurnool 43C, and coastal region has experienced slight showers. Heavy rain slashed in the evening for nearly two hours from 7 PM to 9 PM with heavy thundering and bright lightning’s, on 6 May 2017, a welcome feature due to the severe summer of this year. At 8 PM in 42 ward in Durgapuram the thunderbolt struck and totally burnt away the hut along with all household amenities. The family members were allowed to stay in community hall by VRO Jyothi. The neighbouring house lady felt uneasy and has been shifted to a hospital. On 7 May, mid-day, about 50 goats (Mekalu) died due to the onset of a thunderbolt on them in Kadapa Zillah in Brahmanpalli. Machilipatnam also experienced the thundershowers. In Krishna Zillah Pedanapatnam lightning strokes destroyed several Refrigerators, TV units. In Mahanadi village the banana crop got destroyed. Use of Solar Panels yield, "With the extra light we can study until 10 pm," says their daughter Pooja, a 17-year-old student. And her parents can farm and milk their cows beyond sunset, around 5pm, for the first time. Heat wave conditions prevailed across the plains of Haryana and Punjab on Monday, 8 May 2017, with maximum temperatures of 41-45.5C. Narnaul town sizzled at 45.5C. A reverse auction in Rajasthan on Tuesday, 9 May 2017 power companies Phelan Energy and Aveda Power each offered to charge 2.62 rupees per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity generated from solar panels they hope to build at an energy park in the desert state. People of tribal origin like Raj Gonda, they live between the Penganga and the Godavari, have a close connection with natural resources. The wells located in their region, known as KUI yield water throughout the year. One well called the Kantam (perennially full) in Kanchanpalli village, in the Lingapur Mandal of Kumram Bheem Asifabad district. It serves the needs of 80 families and over 100 heads of cattle. Ramasamudram in Chittoor Zillah on Wednesday night faced hail storm, winds and heavy rain and 2200 acres crop destructed with about 70 crore of rupees field crop. Boppai, Tomato, Mango, Cauliflower, ball flowers, Bheera, Kakarakaya, Mirchi, Kothimeera, Anapa, and Mokkajonna were dwindled. On 11 MAY 2017 4:21AM, in Bharatpur, 25 people were killed and 26 were injured, 15 of them seriously. The wall and a tin shed attached to it at the marriage venue collapsed due to a storm. At AN EARTHQUAKE in northwest China has killed at least eight people as buildings collapsed from the force of tremor, with the death toll expected to rise. Krithika Karthi: Niza-karthari began on 11 May would last till 25 May Rohini Karthe: with Month Siva Rathri on 24 May, 2017. On 12 May 2017 the exchange of electrons and electron holes is crucial to harvesting energy in solar photovoltaic panels, electrons are excited and move around within the cell, in turn pushing around the no-electron area and, in a certain way of looking at it, swapping places with a “hole.” Trying to work with the dynamics of such a process is almost impossible looking only at electrons. But as a mixture of electron particles and electron hole quasiparticles, each with their own sets of behavior, it makes much more sense. On 13 May 2017, retreating Glaciers in India cast doubt over the Himalaya’s ability to continually feed green-energy hydropower projects. In March or April, this used to be 10 to 12 feet of snow here. Less snow means more tourists and sales. Five people died due to lightning strike, on 14 May 2017, in Anantapur while taking shelter in a shed near Kalugodu village, of Gummagatta Mandal. The four sustained injuries were hospitalised in Rayadurgam. Two Jersey cows also died due to lightning strike at Kadi Rampalli in the evening. In Kurnool a lady and her granddaughter due to falling tree, that fell on them. A Coolie lady who went near the tree lost a hand. Another was also injured and they were both shifted to Adoni Area Hospital. High Gales with heavy rain affected Jaggampeta, Rangampeta and Gandepalli Mandal. Colour Green at which greatest number of cones of a human eye are stimulated the most. People in adventure trails, workers in hazardous settings and cycling at night need to be visible from far, jackets of 555-nanometer colour would keep them safe. Gadgets fail but not the Physics of a fabric. 15 May 2017: It has been dubbed the most mysterious star in the galaxy. The star, more than 1,200 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus the Swan, flickers and dims in a way never seen before. The starlight dips in an irregular pattern, suggesting that something is intermittently blocking the star. This bizarre behaviour, first reported in autumn 2015 and not seen in any other star, has scientists baffled. Researchers have proposed a myriad of explanations, including black holes, comet swarms, and interstellar clouds. But a conclusive answer remains elusive. And one hypothesis in particular has raised eyebrows: aliens. Maximum UV levels will be extreme(11 UV index) at midday when the skies are clear.

Webb will probe the cosmos from a spot in space called Lagrange Point 2, located directly behind Earth from the sun's perspective, where the telescope can use one shield to protect itself from both the sun's and Earth's thermal emissions. From there, Webb will gather infrared views of the universe's first galaxies and of planets around distant stars; the use of infrared light will allow Webb to peer through interstellar dust for a better view.

Tuesday 02 May 2017. Wayanad: Even when rest of the Kerala is reeling under scorching summer heat, weather changed in some areas. The social media and Whatsapp groups were soon filled with images from the hill district and claims that this had happened never before. While old timers were quick to clarify that hailstorms were quite common across Kerala till the mid-1990s, the scale of this storm has surely left even some of them amused.

KERALA UNUSUAL HAILSTORM IN 25 YEARS:
1. Residents of Wayanad district, Kerala, have been facing the most powerful hailstorm in the history of region for over 25 years. According to The News Minute, the impact was most severe in and around Sulthan Bathery area. For over a week now, the region has been experiencing mild hailstorm and rain. But on Monday, the situation escalated when blobs of hard ice started hitting the streets and the roofs of the houses. The ice, which had saturated on roads and buildings, only began melting by Tuesday afternoon. While many were stranded in their homes, Millennials, still found a way to cheer themselves up by taking scores of photos and uploading them on social media. It’s not unnatural, but it is certainly rare. Parts of Wayanad district in Kerala experienced a rare hail storm on Monday May 4, with roads soon turning white. Sulthan Bathery enjoys hailstone shower as rest of Kerala wilts under summer heat

2. KOZHIKODE: The excitement over the rare hailstorm that sprung a surprise on the summer heat-struck residents of Wayanad has given way to anxiety with farmers expressing concern over the damages to crops. The intense hail had lashed in Sultan Bathery and nearby areas on Monday afternoon. Though Wayanad used to witness hailstorms locally called, 'kallumazha', during summer showers, it was for the first time that large ice chunks rained down from the sky. "The sight of rain unloading a barrage of hailstones was spectacular and it left a blanket of white ice in front of our house. Adding to the sight was the sound of hail stones blasting on rooftops. I have been living in Wayanad for the last 30 years and have never experienced such an intense hailstorm. It started around 3pm and lasted for around 30 minutes.

Kadapa: About 50 sheep (Mekalu) died due to the onset of a thunderbolt on them on 7 May in Kadapa zillah in Brahmanpalli. Machilipatnam also experienced the thundershowers. In Krishna zillah Pedana patnam lightning strokes destroyed several Refrigerators, TV units. In Mahanandhi village the banana crop got destroyed. This is the third time in this year the loss of crops has been witnessed. Guntur zillah heavy rains occurred. Ponnurpatnam the heavy rain lashed for an hour continuously. Bethamcherla had all the mango fruits fallen down. Just on Sunday about seven people died due to the thunderbolts. Nellore zillah, AS-peta,and Saidapuram and Kondapuram the thunderbolts killed sheep and cows. Kurnool also got affected. Kurnool, Chittoor and Orvakallu in the mid-day, driving vehicles switched on the lights, to navigate on the roads. May 7, 2017: White light from red pomegranate, turmeric extracts:
Dr. Vikram Singh, a research scholar won GYTI award 2017, for producing white light, using natural extracts. Dyes extracted from these and found that polyphenols and anthocyanins present in red pomegranate emit blue and orange regions, the curcumin from turmeric emit green region. White light emission is produced when red, blue and green mix together. (J. Science Reports). The two extracts to be mixed in particular ratio to get white light. By changing the concentration of the two extracts, different colour temperatures could be achieved. When we mix the two extracts and irradiate with 380 nm UV radiation, energy transfer from polyphenols to curcumin to anthocyanins, which helps to get perfect white light emission. Emission from polyphenols with absorption by curcumin, so energy from polyphenols is transferred to curcumin. The energy of curcumin is transferred to anthocyanin.
In further work, the duo produced carbon nanoparticles made from the pomegranate extract and it produced fairly green emission, and produced white light. (J. Materials Chemistry C). The method may be used to produce tuneable lasers, LEDs, White light displays but the work requires to gain on photo stability and chemical stability. Biosystems have tendency to breakdown and this needs to be addressed.
8 May 2017: Canada floods: Montreal declares state of emergency. A state of emergency has been declared in the Canadian city of Montreal due to flooding caused by torrential rains and melting snow. The measure was declared on Sunday afternoon and will remain in place for 48 hours. Across the province of Quebec, in Canada's east, nearly 1,900 homes have already been flooded across 126 towns and cities.
Monday, May 8, 2017: Zhang, Harrison and Gierad Laput, another HCII Ph.D. student, used Electrick to add touch sensing to surfaces as large as a 4-by-8-foot sheet of drywall, as well as objects as varied as a steering wheel, the surface of a guitar and a Jell-O mold of a brain. Even Play-Doh can be made interactive with Electrick. The "trick" is to apply electrically conductive coatings or materials to objects or surfaces or to craft objects using conductive materials. By attaching a series of electrodes to the conductive materials, researchers showed they could use a well-known technique called electric field tomography to sense the position of a finger touch.

10 May 2017: A reverse auction in Rajasthan on Tuesday, power companies Phelan Energy and Avaada Power each offered to charge 2.62 rupees per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity generated from solar panels they hope to build at an energy park in the desert state. Last year’s previous record lowest bid was 4.34 rupees per kWh. Analysts called the 40% price drop “world historic” and said it was driven by cheaper finance and growing investor confidence in India’s pledge to dramatically increase its renewable energy capacity.

It never dries up. Rectangular KUI lined by teak wood logs, at the top thinner logs provide secure place for the person drawing water. The water drawn is poured into a hallowed-cut log, which pipes into another hollow log. This collection method ensures that any silt comes up settles at the bottom. The lower log kept full for the animals to drink. Whenever there is a rainfall the catchment areas of Kadem, a stream about 15 km away, increases the water level in the well. An underground stream connects the two, the Gonds call the Satganga. One another can be found on the road between Chinna Dhoba and Seethagondi village in Sirpur Mandal.

SOLAR POWER IN INDIA. 9 May 2017
India unveiled the world's biggest solar farm earlier this year and has quadrupled its solar capacity in the last three years, bringing electricity to millions of off-grid households. Now, through a 40-watt solar panel perching on a tree branch outside the hut, they have enough power for three lights: one inside the house, one in the fields, and one on a tree above the roof. "With the extra light we can study until 10 pm," says their daughter Pooja, a 17-year-old student. And her parents can farm and milk their cows beyond sunset, around 5pm, for the first time, near the village of Solawata in India's Rajasthan.

12 May 2017: The exchange of electrons and electron holes is crucial to harvesting energy in solar photovoltaic panels, electrons are excited and move around within the cell, in turn pushing around the no-electron area and, in a certain way of looking at it, swapping places with a “hole.” Trying to work with the dynamics of such a process is almost impossible looking only at electrons. But as a mixture of electron particles and electron hole quasiparticles, each with their own sets of behavior, it makes much more sense.

13 May 2017 Retreating Glaciers in India cast doubt over the Himalaya’s ability to continually feed green-energy hydropower projects. In March or April, this used to be 10 to 12 feet of snow here. An avid trekker, he's been hiking what are called the "lesser Himalayas" for nearly half a century. The change, he says, has been dramatic. I have never seen this area without snow in the month of March, April, May, even June, he says. Less snow means more tourists and sales.

PHYSICS OF A FABRIC: Colour
Green at which greatest number of cones of a human eye are stimulated the most.
People in adventure trails, workers in hazardous settings and cycling at night
need to be visible from far, jackets of 555-nano-meter colour would keep them safe.
Gadgets fail but not the Physics of a fabric.
15 May 2017: It has been dubbed the most mysterious star
in the galaxy. The star, more than 1,200 light-years away in the constellation
Cygnus the Swan, flickers and dims in a way never seen before. The starlight
dips in an irregular pattern, suggesting that something is intermittently
blocking the star. This bizarre behaviour, first reported in autumn 2015 and
not seen in any other star, has scientists baffled. Researchers have proposed a
myriad of explanations, including black holes, comet swarms, and interstellar
clouds. But a conclusive answer remains elusive. And one hypothesis in
particular has raised eyebrows: aliens.
Month of May 2017: The average maximum daytime temperature
in India in May is a very hot 39°C (102°F) with extreme heat & humidity.
