Nov. 16, 2019: At US congressional hearing on Kashmir, call to end lock down. Lawyers and human rights advocates testify at hearing, demanding investigation into current crisis.
Nov. 16, 2019: Pshenichnikov studied a system in which an organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite semiconductor was combined with the organic compound bathophenanthroline (bphen), a material with a large band-gap. The scientists used laser light to excite electrons in the perovskite and studied the behavior of the hot electrons that were generated.(Singapore) have now shown that this may be easier than expected by combining a perovskite with an acceptor material for hot electrons. Their proof of principle was published in Science Advances on 15 November.
Nov. 16, 2019: 00:52 IST: ‘Experts worried about safety of Srisailam dam. Sagar, Amaravati will suffer severe damage if urgent measures are not taken’ . Irrigation experts are jittery about the condition of the Srisailam dam, which had to handle huge volumes of water in recent times. The gates were open eight times this season. Since 2003 no repair and maintenance works were carried out. If dam bursts the Nagarjuna Sagar, Pulichintala dam, Prakasam barrage, would be affected. Rayalaseema would become a desert. It endured a flood of 25.5 lack cusecs in 2009. Repair works to be taken up on war footing. Systematic neglect since 2003. The dam tilted almost 8.8 mm on October 8, 2009, but fortunately returned to normal after the flood receded.

Interestingly, our recent research findings indicate that delaying human aging and extending life expectancy is not quite a pipedream. Focusing on the analysis of sirtuins and the klotho gene, named after the Greek goddess Klotho who spun the thread of life, we are working on methodologies to clarify the mechanism for the onset of age-related diseases and thus suppress aging, with the goal of overcoming aging and age-related diseases.

Firefighters rescued one of them quickly, the other one only after several hours. Both were injured and taken to the hospital. In Gurktal, in the Carinthia region, some 70 firefighters had to evacuate the residents of 15 buildings because of the swelling Gurk river.
Nov. 18, 2019: A Gravastar is an object hypothesized in astrophysics as an alternative to the black hole theory by Pawel O. Mazur and Emil Mottola . It has usual black hole metric outside of the horizon, but de Sitter metric inside. On the horizon there is a thin shell of matter. In the original formulation by Mazur and Mottola, gravastars contain a central region featuring a p=-ρ false vacuum or "dark energy", a thin shell of p=ρ perfect fluid, and a true vacuum p=ρ=0 exterior. The dark energy like behavior of the inner region prevents collapse to a singularity and the presence of the thin shell prevents the formation of an event horizon, avoiding the infinite blue shift. The inner region has thermodynamically no entropy and may be thought of as a gravitational Bose–Einstein condensate. A gravastar would be made of a core of exotic matter similar to dark energy, that prevents the collapse of a matter shell surrounding it, made of the normal matter that once made up a star. When the star started to collapse at the end of its life, a phase transition would happen that could create this exotic matter before the event horizon could be formed. This speculative object would be almost as compact as a black hole, but the tiny difference between them would be enough to prevent the formation of the event horizon and the conceptual questioning that comes with it. 17 Nov. 2008 • IOP Publishing Ltd. P.Roach et al. Dynamical models of prototype gravastars are constructed and studied. The models are the Visser–Wiltshire three-layer gravastars, in which an infinitely thin spherical shell of a perfect fluid with the equation of state p = (1−γ)σ divides the whole spacetime into two regions, where the internal region is de Sitter, and the external one is Schwarzschild. When γ<1 and , it is found that in some cases the models represent stable gravastars, and in some cases they represent 'bounded excursion' stable gravastars, where the thin shell is oscillating between two finite radii, while in some other cases they collapse until the formation of black holes occurs. However, when γ≥1, even with , only black holes are found. In the phase space, the region for both stable gravastars and 'bounded excursion' gravastars is very small in comparison to that for black holes, although it is not completely empty. Spin induced quadrupole moment parameter takes value 1 for a black hole and for other compact objects the value will vay depending on the internal structure. A gravastar is a strange object that would have a core of exotic matter resembling dark energy. The external shell like a normal star. Gravastar gets compressed near the equator and bulges out at the poles. Thus their shapes change differently when spinning. There are not many ways to look for exotic objects.

A novel bacteria-repellent coating could dramatically reduce the amount of water needed to flush a toilet, which usually requires six litres. When it dries, the first spray grows molecules that look like little hairs, with a diameter of about 1,000,000 times thinner than a human's," Wang said in a statement. While this first application creates an extremely smooth surface, the second spray infuses a thin layer of lubricant around those nanoscopic "hairs" to create a super-slippery surface, the researchers explained.
