Meteorologists expect more heavy rain to hit Somalia on Saturday exacerbating the problems caused by flooding in the country. It has already been called the worst flooding in a lifetime by Action Against Hunger regional director Hajir Maalim. Some 273,000 Somalis have had to leave their homes, according to the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Parts of Kenya and South Sudan have also been hit by the flooding. More than 600,000 people have been forced to leave their homes in South Sudan.

Jagatpita Brahma Mandir is a Hindu temple situated at Pushkar in the Indian state of Rajasthan, close to the sacred Pushkar Lake to which its legend has an indelible link. The temple is one of very few existing temples dedicated to the Hindu creator-god Brahma in India and remains the most prominent among them. The temple structure dates to the 14th century, partly rebuilt later. The temple is made of marble and stone slabs. It has a distinct red pinnacle (shikhara) and a hamsa bird motif. The temple sanctum sanctorum holds the image of four-headed Brahma and his consort Gayatri(goddess of milk). The temple is governed by the Sanyasi (ascetic) sect priesthood. Astrosat views star formation in jellyfish galaxies.  In JW100, there is higher contribution from H-alpha but much less from ultraviolet in the tail. This could mean that other mechanisms such as shocks or thermal conduction from the hot plasma of the galaxy cluster is contributing to H-alpha emission from these regions.

This creates a lethal cocktail of particulate matter, carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide - all worsened by fireworks set off during the Hindu festival Diwali a week ago. Vehicle fumes, construction and industrial emissions have also contributed to the smog. My friend S.V. Chalam says today morning the smog of particulate matter entered his house in the morning around 7:30 AM.

Nov. 4, 2019:  Fog in Visakhapatnam filled the city with smog on the 3rd Nov. till 10 AM.  From evening 4 O'clock till  late night and motorists were compelled to switch on lights and drive the vehicles. Winter onset is responsible for this. Weather people said that due to moisture in the air, it appears as a fog.   
Nov.4, 2019: Srikurmam murals needs restoration due to the neglect over decades. Reach Foundation member  willing to conduct restoration work Y. Bhadraji said he had little knowledge of previous conservation efforts. Geographically the temple is situated between the two rivers Vamsadhara on one side and the Nagavalli on the other. Electrification and cement works brought the damage to the murals, a pride of Andhra.

Nov. 6, 2019: 19 hours ago: Air pollution in Kanpur, Lucknow and Patna was at "severe" levels, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed on Tuesday, suggesting the plume of smoke from farm fires in Punjab and Haryana that choked Delhi and the national capital region (NCR) on Sunday has moved down the Gangetic plain.

Nov. 7 2019: Rains lash Dera Baba Nanak where 3,500 Kartarpur pilgrims are accommodated. It is raining heavily in the tented city spread out in 30 acre. Punjab's current weather is rainy at with a lingering thunderstorm which makes it feel like below 10 C. Nov. 07 2019: 22:03 IST: 7 killed in heavy snowfall in Kashmir valley.  Srinagar: Normal life paralyzed, power lines down after 16 hours of incessant snowfall on Thursday. Surface as well as air traffic was completely.
Nov 07, 2019: 8:50 PM: Northern parts of the country receive snowfall and rain. Many parts of the country witnessed the first snowfall of the season today. Several areas of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh are receiving intermittent snowfall. The low lying areas of the state are also receiving scanty rainfall. Snowfall and rain have brought down the day temperature. Movement of vehicles has been halted due to fresh snowfall of about one foot at Rohtang Pass, the entrance of Lahaul-Spiti.
Nov. 07, 2019: Hyderabad: India, Sweden to engage in clean, innovative technologies through Accelerator Programme.   Under the programme, we are working on several areas such as micro-grid, power quality, bio-gas, solar power, and automation, said Lindstrom. In the last six years of this programme, about 50 Swedish companies have been introduced in India and nearly 500 Indian companies have participated in this initiative.

 'Ice eggs' cover Finland beach in rare weather event. Thousands of egg-shaped balls of ice have covered a beach in Finland, the result of a rare weather phenomenon. Amateur photographer Risto Mattila was among those who came across the "ice eggs" on Hailuoto Island in the Gulf of Bothnia between Finland and Sweden. Experts say it is caused by a rare process in which small pieces of ice are rolled over by wind and water. The balls of ice covered an area of about 30m (100ft). The smallest were the size of eggs and the biggest were the size of footballs.

Nov. 8, 2019: Friday: Srinagar and other parts of the valley woke up to an unseasonal snowfall on Thursday setting in an early winter chill in Kashmir as the minimum temperature fell below the freezing point for the first time in this season. The valley has been cut-off from the rest of the country as the arterial Jammu-Kashmir National high way was closed for traffic while all the flights to and from Srinagar airport were cancelled.

Women pick up scrapping up soil blanketed by a shiny white thin crystallized deposit and put on a metal plate with a steel rod. The sulfate water from the hot spring flows and then the heat from the sun dries it. Salt harvested using the same technique for the last 2000 years. Traditional healers use it even to-date. Holy spring water and the salt have healing properties.

Nov. 9, 2019: 7:51 PM: Bangladesh, India move hundreds of thousands away from Cyclone Bulbul.  Bangladeshi and Indian authorities on Saturday ordered more than 450,000 people to flee coastal villages and islands as Cyclone Bulbul headed for the Bay of Bengal coast.
Nov. 9, 2019: In the last 24 hours, Paradip received highest rainfall of 159 mm, followed by Chandbali with 143 mm and Balasore 32 mm of rainfall. gale wind speed 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph is prevailing along and off Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak and Balasore districts of Odisha and East Medinipur, south and north 24 Parganas districts of West Bengal. Incessant rain and squally wind have been lashing the coastal districts since Friday, with the intensity increasing gradually.

The settlement lies in an archaeological zone known as Wat'a—meaning "island" in the local Indigenous language—at an altitude of around 13,000 feet. This is around 5,000 feet higher than Machu Picchu, the crowning glory of the Inca civilization.

The cyclone packed winds up to 120 km per hour when it made a predawn landfall.  Figure rose to 21 lakh people shifted to cyclone shelters. On Sunday the number of cyclone lowered to 3. Thirteen coastal districts were affected and army was called in.

To improve the road connectivity in the interiors parts of Visakhapatnam Agency, about 300 tribal people joined the district police on Monday, to lay a 3.5 km kutcha road from Nirelabanda to Yerracheruvulu, in GK mandal. These are interiors parts in the Agency area and were not connected with any form of road. And now this will benefit at least 3,000 tribals from four villages such as Yerracheruvulu, Sampangigondhi, Kinerlabandha and Pedakonda.
Nov. 12, 2019: Rains bring solace to parched Vizianagaram district that is sufficient till next summer, almost all 5,473 major and medium tanks are full, com[pared to horrible situation during lost five years.  District received 702 mm rainfall. Water would benefit 1,68,645 acres in the division. All 18,170 bore-wells are functioning.  
Nov. 12, 2019: The voyage home: Japan's Hayabusa-2 probe to head for Earth. The long voyage home would begin at 10:05 am (0105 GMT), with the probe expected to drop off its precious samples some time late 2020. Hayabusa-2 is expected to drop the samples off in the South Australian desert, but JAXA is negotiating with the Australian government about how to arrange it. Under the current plan, Hayabusa-2 will boldly continue its journey in space after dropping off its capsule to Earth, and might "carry out another asteroid exploration."

It is not summer, but there are almost-fresh Alphonso mangoes in Mumbai’s retail shops. They smell and taste almost like the Devgad Alphonso, but come from Malawi mangoes, grown in their namesake African country by a European-African firm, Malawi Mangoes Ltd, are being marketed as “99 per cent similar”.
