July 16  2020: An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter Scale hit Rajkot in Gujarat on Thursday morning at 7:40 am. Tremors of the early morning earthquake in Gujarat were felt across Rajkot, Jamnagar, Junagarh and Surendranagar areas.
July 17, 2020, 5:28 pm: Earthquake hits Mizoram; ninth in one month. An earthquake of 4.2 magnitude hit Mizoram's Champhai district on Friday afternoon, the ninth quake to rock the state in the last one month. The earthquake occurred at 3.56 pm and the epicentre was 33 km south-southwest of Champhai. The depth of the earthquake was 10 km.
July 17, 2020: A 3.9 magnitude earthquake struck at 88 km east of Katra of Reasi district in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. The quake hit at a depth of more than 5 km.

July   17, 2020: New Suriname President takes oath on Vedas, chants mantras. The newly elected Indian origin politician could be seen taking the oath for his new office on the Holy Vedas, the highest scriptures of Hinduism. A priest could also be seen in the video who is making the new President chant mantras from the scriptures. The ceremony took place on Thursday, 16th July.
July 18, 2020: School private teachers in Andhra Pradesh are in doldrums, as the school managements declared they can't pay their salaries, since there is no income.  Many school teachers are working as a vegetable sellers, Auto Rickshaw drivers,  Selling Bopai fruits, a PET teacher working as a Lemon tree grower, some working as diggers with farm lands, pulling cart vegetable sellers etc several low-paid jobs. Since four months, they don't have salaries paid. Future is uncertain and private tutions are not available. May be in this August 2020 some schools may reopen, and teachers would have some work. 
July  18, 2020; 11 hours ago: SUV The Audi e-tron has become the most popular electric SUV in Europe, after the Ingolstadt firm delivered 17,641 units of the EV globally in the first half of 2020. July 18, 2020: Rajasthan Boy Climbs Mountain Daily in Search of Network to Attend Online Classes. "From last month and a half, Harish climbs the mountain at 8 a.m. and returns home at 2 p.m. after the class ends." According to government statistics, only 15% of rural India students have access to the digital medium to attend online classes.  This also highlights the growing need for data for both the work-from-home and online classes, and the low availability of it, especially in rural India.

July 21 2020: Officially known as C/2020 F3, Comet NEOWISE is a comet that was discovered on March 27, 2020, by NEOWISE, often nicknamed "cosmic snowballs," are icy, rocky objects made up of ice, rock and dust. These objects orbit the sun, and as they slip closer to the sun most comets heat up and start streaming two tails, one made of dust and gas and an "ion tail" made of electrically-charged gas molecules, or ions. Because it is especially bright, the comet is visible in the night sky with the naked eye.  In fact, the comet is so bright that scientists are "able to get a lot more and better data than we typically do for most comets."

July 21, 2020: Floods wreak havoc on 31 out of 33 districts in Assam. Over 25 lakh people displaced, standing crop destroyed, over 3,000 villages affected. Additionally, non-stop showers have led to large parts of Assam being inundated under several feet of water. A total of 11,12,138 hectares of land is currently inundated, much of it, agricultural land where standing crop has been destroyed.

 Incredible nature! This rare orchid in Dudhwa found bearing seeds after a century. A team had spotted this rare orchid in Dudhwa’s core area for the first time and photographed it. Almost 118 years after it was rediscovered inside the dense forests of the Dudhwa reserve, the rare orchid specimen, known as Eulophia obtuse, is bearing fruits (seeds), giving much hope for its pollination and captive breeding.
July  22  2020: Mizoram special sale stalls, with vegetables, flowers, fruits etc., open to public with all the ingredients neatly packed and kept for easy takeover, with nobody watching them and all prices written down on the rappers. The owners left them there and went away for their field work in the fields. Whether enough money or not people can choose what they want and leave what money they can give deposited there in a box. Wealthy people put more money while the poor people take, they want and deposit what they can afford. Chief minister wonder struck and posted a tweet on Twitter. 
July  22  2020: 7.8 magnitude earthquake jolts Alaska, the residents had fled to higher grounds, the quake hit 75 miles south of the city of Chignik at a depth of 10 miles. The earthquake was followed by several aftershocks, the strongest of them measured at 5.7 on the Richter scale. Alaska is on the Pacific Ring of Fire.
July 22  2020: Heavy rains in Assam, Bihar, West Bengal and some other states have led to a severe flood situation resulting in deaths and displacement of people.Overall nine states are reeling under flood situation. Other states witnessing flood are Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Kerala. Incessant rain in catchment areas of Bhutan and West Bengal has led to a serious flood situation 
July 22 2020: Puebla is an area rich with archaeological ruins but locals said they were proud to have led archaeologists to this latest find. Experts are still analyzing the finds but said the site could have been built by people belonging to the Zapotec civilization, also known as the "Cloud People", which originated in the area 2,500 years ago and had a sophisticated architecture and style of writing based on glyphs. Those following the Zapotec religion believed in lots of gods, many of them associated with agriculture or animals.
July 22, 2020: The pair have unveiled Fabien Cousteau's Proteus, a 4,000-square-foot modular lab that will sit under the water off the coast of Curaçao, providing a home to scientists and researchers from across the world studying the ocean -- from the effects of climate change and new marine life to medicinal breakthroughs. Designed as a two-story circular structure grounded to the ocean floor on stilts, Proteus' protruding pods contain laboratories, personal quarters, medical bays and a moon pool where divers can access the ocean floor. Powered by wind and solar energy, and ocean thermal energy conversion, the structure will also feature the first underwater greenhouse for growing food, as well as a video production facility.

July  24, 2020: A LARGE number of people have been affected because of the worsening flood situation in Assam’s Darang and Sonitpur districts. With the Brahmaputra and the Tangni rivers flowing well above the danger level, several villages in the large rural region of the eastern province of Darang have been submerged. The floodwaters have destroyed crops and fishes from ponds have been swept away. People living in low-lying areas were forced to leave their homes. The overflowing waters of the Saktola River have wreaked havoc in hundreds of villages of the Mangalde and Sipajhar Vidhan Sabha areas in the western province of Darang.

A flash of ultraviolet light accompanying a white dwarf explosion has been spotted for the second time ever, scientists at US' Northwestern University said. Astronomers spotted the supernova using the Zwicky Transient Facility in California in December 2019, one day after the explosion. The event, called SN2019yvq, occurred in a relatively nearby galaxy located 140 million light-years from Earth.An extremely rare type of supernova, the event is poised to offer insights into several long-standing mysteries, including what causes white dwarfs to explode, how dark energy accelerates the cosmos and how the universe creates heavy metals, such as iron.
July  24 2020: Two people died due to lightning in Prakasam district one charred to death in Chirala while working on farm in Gavinivaripalem, and another killed while he was grazing cattle. Pullalacheruvu received received rainfall 2.52 cm news from Ongole.
July 24, 2020 8:41 PM: Earthquake triggers landslides in Mizoram, 23rd to hit state in 5 weeks. The quake occurred at 11.16 am and the epicentre was 29 km southeast of Champhai. The earthquake and heavy rains caused landslides at several places in the district.

July  26, 2020: Sunday: Andhra Jyothi: Arunjyothi Lokhanday is a traditional crafts person from Nalgonda. Like one would flip through the pages of an album to revisit the past with excitement, she is full of enthusiasm as she takes out each leaf of her collection. “They don’t smell. This is tomato, and this is mirchi,” she said, holding each seed paper napkin. For Ms. Lokhanday, a craft entrepreneur, each ‘leaf’ is embedded with at least 50 lives, soon to emerge as seedlings. It has been six months since she made some 35 leaves out of waste from her vegetarian kitchen, and they are all waiting to burst into life. Her seed paper napkins are based on a quick ‘sandwich recipe’. Vegetable and fruit peels, rotten greens, neem leaves to keep off insects, along with ‘okra’ (lady’s finger) are ground to make a stock paste. The mush is then spread on a paper napkin, followed by sprinkling of collected seeds in square or desired shape. Another napkin on the top completes the ‘sandwich’, ready for sun-drying.
July 27, 2020: India’s first solar-powered ferry Aditya wins global honor. Aditya, India's first solar-powered ferry that commenced operations in 2017 in Kerala's Vembanad backwaters, has won the prestigious Gustave Trouve Award for Excellence in Electric Boats and Boating. The ferry was adjudged the world's best electric boat in the category of ferries designed for paid passenger service
 July  28, 2020: After Uttarakhand, which gave the Sanskrit Language as the second language, Himachala Pradesh happens to be the second state to give the Sanskrit Language as the 2nd language status. It is more perfect than the Greek, more  copious than the Latin, and more exquisitely refined than both of these languages. 
July 28,  2020: Jaishankar Singh's eleven years hard work of cultivating pearls using oyster mussels in his dug pond, on a 1.10 bigha land in 2009 and collected mussels from nearby wetlands. PM Modi praised his work, since the postgraduate in organic chemistry, born in a poor family, in Dharbhanga college, jobless took up this work. 
July 28 2020 17:57 PM IST: Traditional weaver spins new weave in cotton and silk. He set up the loom afresh for his new creation. “It took me 40 days to set up the loom and another 30 days to weave the sari,” he said. The cotton sari, woven using 140 count cotton thread, has a rich brocaded silk, double colored border. The border has been woven into the sari using the patni and double korvai method, which Kancheepuram weavers are famous for. The patni method is all but forgotten now.A weaver may take around 25 days to weave a sari once the loom is set up. Just for dyeing the yarn I have to pay ₹2,000,” he explained.
July 29 2020: Once one of the most developed cities on Earth, Teotihuacan, northeast of Mexico City, is a real puzzle for historians. Who built this 25-square-km (9.7-square-mile) site? Scientific discoveries show that the Aztecs would not have built this 2,000-year-old site, but would have inherited it after its builders abandoned it. What’s even more intriguing is that American engineer Hugh Harleston demonstrated that the city is a perfect model of our solar system: the buildings correspond proportionally to the position and size of the planets. Very mysterious, indeed.
July 29, 2020: The Hindu: B S S Madhav has developed with the help of three friends, (two in Himachal Pradesh, another in Noida) an application named as " IndiaShare". They launched in Google Play Store on June 25. It helps transfer of files from Mobile to Mobile and  Mobile to laptop, and the laptop needs to have Google Chrome. Application is available in Telugu, Hindi, and English. The application can be downloaded for free and they are seeking sponsors to meet the maintenance costs.

Red alert in Idukki, widespread rains predicted in Kerala in next two days. Red alert indicates that there are chances of receiving over 20.5 cm rain within the next 24 hours in various parts of Idukki. Orange alert, indicating heavy to very heavy rains, has been issued for Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts for Wednesday.

A temple was built by Mokari Bharmayya an exponent of various arts,  proficient in many musical instruments, and knowledge of various treatises of dance. He also was expert in 32 ragas, blessed by Sri Vagdevi, the goddess Sarswathi. He was also an expert singer. Temple was in existence since 1030 CE renovated in 1070 CE. The Galageswara is now protected by ASI. It has a Dravidian vimana which is three tiered. Interior of temple has a large Shiva Linga. The Vishnu and Mahishamardini sculptures predate th temple. July 31, 2020: 4.2 magnitude earthquake jolts Los Angeles; no reports of damage. The quake, which struck at 4:29 am Pacific time (1129 GMT), was felt in much of the Los Angeles area. A second quake of 3.3 magnitude struck nine minutes later. 
July 31, 2020: The womenfolk worship the Goddess Lakshmi on this day for their own well-being and seek blessings for the family. It is said praying to Goddess Varalakshmi on this day is equal to worshiping the Ashtalakshmi - the eight Goddesses of Wealth, Earth, Wisdom, Love, Fame, Peace, Contentment, and Strength respectively.
July 31, 2020, 12:55 PM IST: Ravi's areca leaf bags to replace plastic. He made beautiful bags with areca leaves which are found aplenty in his village. He takes three hours to make the completely hand-knitted areca leaf bag.
