It is established that Egyptians must have discovered the drying properties of the lead-based compounds 1,400 years earlier than Europeans. The report says that it has been established earlier that in Egypt, inks were used as early as 3200 BC to write text. Black ink was used to write the body while red ink was used as a highlighter, marking heading and keywords.

"When I realised I was looking at cyclopropenylidene, my first thought was, 'Well, this is really unexpected," said planetart scientist Conar Nixon. His team's findings were published in the Astronomical Journal. Closed-look molecules like Cyclopropenylidene form the backbone rungs for the nucleobases of DNA -- the molecule that carries genetic instructions in all living things -- and RNA -- a macromolecule present in all biological cells.

The meteorite is 12 million-year-old and was collected soon after it fell on Earth in 2018. Scientists were able to obtain a piece of the fallen meteorite relatively quickly before it got contaminated by conditions prevalent on the Earth. The meteorite lit up the sky as it fell on Earth on January 16, 2018.

On Thursday night into Friday morning, Oct. 29 to 30, 2020, the bright planet Mars will appear near the nearly full waxing Moon. As evening twilight ends (at 7:09 p.m. EDT for the Washington, D.C. area), the Moon will appear about 17 degrees above the eastern horizon, with Mars appearing above the Moon. The Moon and Mars will share the same right ascension, with the Moon passing 2°58' to the south of Mars. The Moon will be 13 days old. At around the same time, the two objects will also make a close approach, technically called an appulse. From Visakhapatnam, the pair will be visible in the evening sky, becoming accessible around 17:42 (IST) as the dusk sky fades, 18° above your eastern horizon. They will then reach their highest point in the sky at 22:28, 77° above your southern horizon. They will continue to be observable until around 04:04, when they sink below 7° above your western horizon. The Moon will be at mag -12.5 in the constellation Cetus, and Mars at mag -2.2 in the neighbouring constellation of Pisces.

Oct. 29, 2020: According to a study published by the Planetary Science Journal on Monday, asteroid '16 Psyche’ is located roughly 370 million kilometres (230 million miles) from the Earth and measures 226 kilometres across (140 miles), which is roughly about the size of West Virginia. However, the most interesting feature about the asteroid is not its size but its make. Unlike other asteroids which are made up of either rocks or ice, Psyche is almost entirely made of metals. Researchers used the ultraviolet spectrum data collected by the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph on the Hubble Telescope during two observations made in 2017. Relying on the data, they deduced that Psyche’s surface could be pure iron. However, they also recognised that presence of iron composition as small as 10 percent could dominate ultraviolet reports. Psyche is believed to be the dead core of a planet that might have failed during its formative stages or it could also be the result of many violent space collisions.
Oct, 29. 2020: Gravitational waves from 39 cosmic events recorded by LIGO, VIRGO in the last six months. As per the researchers, the catalogue contains events whose sources were black hole binary mergers as well as events that could have originated from neutron stars (dead or dying stars), neutron star-black hole binaries, or binary black holes. The idea of gravitational waves was first proposed by Albert Einstein, who proposed that when two planetary bodies orbit each other, it can cause a ripple in space, which in turn would spread out like ripples in a pond. Scientists call these gravitational waves.

And this year’s Blue moon is extra special as it’s extra rare to have this full-moon on Halloween night! The last time this happened was in 1955. It will also be visible globally, another rare event. The 1955 Blue moon on Halloween wasn’t visible in Western hemisphere countries like the USA. While the Blue moon on October 31 will be bright, white and silvery, there still might be a chance for a blueish tint in certain atmospheric conditions. Be ready to view it any time after 8:15 pm IST.
