DETAILS:

Jul 16 2022 05:58 PM.  The Bhojpur temple has one of the tallest and grandest Shiva Lingams in India, built out of a single rock. How on earth would craftsman pull off such complex acts during that era is beyond me.The Bhojpur temple is a commanding structure, mesmerizing even….and one of the prettiest temples I have seen in India. It’s quite an accomplishment considering this temple is unfinished till date. Raja Bhoj built the Bhojpur temple around 1010-1055 AD but never completed it. Some say he shifted his focus and resources towards the Somnath temple that was being attacked by Mahmud of Ghazni and then he passed away before he could complete the construction of this one.
July. 16, 2022: yesterday at 8:21 PM: The students set out on foot and walked till Kachur for 6 km but saw the bus coming towards them when the final 2 km of the journey was left. Furious by then, the girls stopped the bus in Kachur and started protesting. They demanded that KKRTC officials must address their woes or they will not let the bus move. “We are facing many problems because of the bus staff who never keep up time. Many days, we miss the first two classes as the bus is late. Now, if we reach home so late, we are scolded by our parents. Many of us fear losing out on our education as our families are worried about our safety,” one of the students said. “If we fail due to loss of attendance, will the bus staff get us promoted? After numerous attempts by the bus staff and Kachur residents, the girls finally budged after an hour. By then, five had fallen sick and were moved to the nearest hospital in Sedam.
July. 16, 2022;  yesterday 3:40 PM:  The Sun will transit in the Cancer sign on 16th July 2022 at 23:11 IST (Indian Standard Time). This transit is expected to bring a big change for all moon signs. The Sun is the king of all planets in Astrology. It has leadership qualities. As per Vedic astrology, the Sun is considered the father and is a maker of authority. It represents a high position in service, and it is a representative of the government or administrative position in society. The Sun marks an area of hope and represents positivity and leadership qualities. It is a masculine, positive, and fiery planet. It represents the heart in our body and the Leo sign in 'Kaalpurush' kundli. The Sun provides ambition, boldness, brilliance, the capacity to command over, dignity, energy, faith, fame, grace, happiness, joy, a kind heart, kingly appearance, loyalty, royalty, and truth. It provides energy to everything and everyone in order to sustain and is believed to be the source of new beginnings.
July. 16, 2022: Atomo has introduced Molecular Coffee, which is a beanless coffee made of upcycled plant-based materials. Molecular coffee has become the talk of the town as its sustainability challenges the traditional growing ways of coffee. The production company claims that when compared to cold brewing coffee, molecular coffee requires 94 percent less water, 93 percent less emissions and as it’s beanless- it’s better for the environment as there will be no deforestation.A large body of evidence suggests that consumption of caffeinated coffee does not increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases and cancers. In fact, consumption of 3 to 5 standard cups of coffee daily has been consistently associated with a reduced risk of several chronic diseases”. What makes molecular coffee a better choice than the traditional ones? . Molecular coffee will still provide you with your dose of caffeine.
July . 16, 2022: Measuring the knot of non-Hermitian degeneracies and non-commuting braids. Yogesh S. S. Patil, Judith Höller, Parker A. Henry, Chitres Guria, Yiming Zhang, Luyao Jiang, Nenad Kralj, Nicholas Read & Jack G. E. Harris. Nature volume 607, pages271–275 (2022). Abstract: DETAILS: Any system of coupled oscillators may be characterized by its spectrum of resonance frequencies (or eigenfrequencies), which can be tuned by varying the system’s parameters. The relationship between control parameters and the eigenfrequency spectrum is central to a range of applications1,2,3. However, fundamental aspects of this relationship remain poorly understood. For example, if the controls are varied along a path that returns to its starting point (that is, around a ‘loop’), the system’s spectrum must return to itself. In systems that are Hermitian (that is, lossless and reciprocal), this process is trivial and each resonance frequency returns to its original value. However, in non-Hermitian systems, where the eigenfrequencies are complex, the spectrum may return to itself in a topologically non-trivial manner, a phenomenon known as spectral flow. The spectral flow is determined by how the control loop encircles degeneracies, and this relationship is well understood for N=2 (where N is the number of oscillators in the system)4,5. Here we extend this description to arbitrary N. We show that control loops generically produce braids of eigenfrequencies, and for N>2 these braids form a non-Abelian group that reflects the non-trivial geometry of the space of degeneracies. We demonstrate these features experimentally for N=3 using a cavity optomechanical system.

The story of an Indian ayah who fought her British employers in court in 1826 – and won. Mary Ann defended herself against theft charges and demanded that her employers pay her the promised £10 gratuity. Margaret Makepeace. She told the magistrates that she had been promised a gratuity of £10 and a certificate of “character” on arrival in England if her service was satisfactory. She had called on Mrs Scott and Mrs Warner in Marylebone to be given these before she took a passage to India in the same ship as her son. Mary Ann defended herself in English “with a great deal of ingenuity”, denying that she had stolen anything. This had been her fifth voyage to England and she produced several certificates of good character from the families she had previously attended. Mrs Warner asked that an officer should make a search of the trunks belonging to Mary Ann and her son. This would be also be to the satisfaction of Captain William Reynolds, the commander of the Royal George, who was indignant that his crew were under suspicion. Nothing was found but the sisters still refused to give the gratuity.
July. 18, 2022: When NASA probe almost sank into Asteroid Bennu, a big secret was revealed. HT Tech - Saturday. Instead, the probe landing on the asteroid found it to be totally different! Researchers have traced the progress of the probe on asteroid Bennu, which revealed that the probe landed on a rubble pile, instead of the expected rocky surface. The report says if the probe hadn?t been programmed to lift itself back into its orbit after the landing within a few seconds, then this asteroid would have trapped and ingested it! "The asteroid is so loosely bound that the brief jet of gas that was supposed to blow surface material into the collection hopper instead blasted out 6,000 kilograms (13,000 pounds) of dust and rock," However, when TAGSAM touched the surface, it didn't stop and it submerged almost half-a-meter before the spacecraft reversed course and rose up into the air. It was this accident that revealed to the scientists this amazing secret of Asteroid Bennu.

July. 19, 2022: School Dropout Builds World’s First Fully Automated Brick-Making & Laying Machine. Over the next four years, Satish worked on developing a fully automated brick-making machine that can mix, mould, and lay bricks within hours. In the first iteration, the machine was able to make 9,000 bricks per hour. Later, this number increased to 12,000 per hour. Thanks to Satish’s innovation, the price of brick fell from 60 paise to 20 paise, he says. Satish took help from a few welders and local manufacturers and designed a prototype of the brick-making unit. Third party vendors assisted him in getting parts, especially the moveable truck. “I registered the business with my brother Vilas Chhikara, who is an MBA graduate. The final prototype was launched and tested in January 2015,” says the innovator. In 2020, the 46-year-old’s innovation won the National Startup Award. Today, Satish has customers from across Asia.

July. 20, 2022: This Karnataka Man Uses Solar Power To Meet All His Needs, Whether In Home Or At Office. - Yesterday 6:26 pm. One has never fully understood the importance of the Sun, its benefits, and the impact it can have on human lives, but it seems that 47-year-old Sanjay Deshpande from Karnataka has clearly understood it. He drives an electric car and runs solar-powered pumps to water his garden. He said his savings are Rs 18,000 per month and apart from this, he earns Rs 1,000 from the power supply company by selling the solar power he generates,  “He advised me to place a solar panel outside the window to protect the room from scorching sunlight and generate power to run the fan throughout the night without any disruption,” said Sanjay, an architect-cum-solar man from Hubballi city. “Last year, I installed solar panels on the rooftop. I was permitted to set up a solar system that generates an average 4.2 kW of solar energy, which is supplied to the Hubballi Electricity Supply Company (Hescom) after my usage. Hescom, after deducting my electricity bill, returns anywhere between Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 every month,” he said adding, “I have two-electric vehicles, household machinery, pumps to water the terrace garden, fountains and more.”
July. 20, 2022: He referred to a text called the Baudhayana Sulbasutra, in which a specific shloka refers to the theorem. The period of Baudhayana Sulbasutra is uncertain (as with other sulbasutras), there being no direct internal evidence useful in this respect. It is estimated based on linguistic and other secondary historical considerations and have varied substantially depending on the author. By and large, in recent literature, Baudhayana Sulbasutra is taken to be from around 800 BCE,” said mathematics professor Shrikrishna G Dani, currently with University of Mumbai-Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences. The yajna rituals involved construction of altars (vedi) and fireplaces (agni) in a variety of shapes such as isosceles triangles, symmetric trapezia, and rectangles. The sulbasutras describe steps towards construction of these figures with prescribed sizes. The Pythagorean equation comes into play in these procedures, which involve drawing perpendiculars. These perpendiculars, as detailed in Dani’s paper, were based on triangles whose sides were in the ratio 3:4:5 or 5:12:13. These sides follow the Pythagorean relation, because 3² + 4² = 5², and 5² + 12² = 13². Such combinations are called Pythagorean triples.
July. 20, 2022: Europe's mightiest river is drying up amid a record heatwave, causing shipping issues and deepening the continent's energy woes. Grace Dean - Yesterday 3:49 pm. The River Rhine is drying up amid record-breaking summer heatwaves. The river, which passes through Germany, Switzerland, and the Netherlands, is crucial for moving cargo. The River Rhine, one of Europe's most important rivers which is used to transport cargo including chemicals, grains, and coal across the continent, is drying up amid record-breaking summer heatwaves.Germany's Federal Institute of Hydrology has warned that rivers in Central Europe are at "unusually low" levels and are continuing to fall. Much of the 800-mile Rhine passes through Germany, Europe's biggest economy, but the river also runs through Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands as well as along the border between France and Germany. The water level at Kaub, the river's bottleneck, was 71 centimeters (just under 28 inches) on Tuesday morning, according to Germany's federal administration for waterways and shipping. When it reached 77 centimeters (30 inches) last week, it was already at the lowest level for this time of year since at least 2007, Bloomberg reported, citing government data. Southwest Germany news outlet SWR reported that the low level of water is limiting shipping on the Rhine south of Duisburg and Cologne and that for days, freight ships haven't been able to travel fully-loaded. A representative for Germany's Federal Institute of Hydrology told Bloomberg that if the level at Kaub dips down to 40 centimeters (15.7 inches), it's uneconomical for vessels carrying commodities to sail past it given how little cargo they'd be able to carry.

JULY 21, 2022: Study shows that skyrmions and antiskyrmions can coexist at different temperatures. by Ingrid Fadelli , Phys.org. Studies have predicted that the same behavior should also be observed in magnetic solitons with opposing topological charges. Magnetic solitons, or solitary waves, are localized spin textures that maintain their shape while propagating at a constant velocity and can be distinguished by their topological charge Q. Based on theoretical predictions, magnetic solitons with opposite Q values should continuously merge and annihilate themselves. This includes skyrmions and antiskyrmions, swirling topological magnetic textures that are realized as emergent particles in magnets. Researchers at Forschungszentrum Jülich and JARA in Germany have recently carried out one of the first experiments aimed at testing these predictions, demonstrates the creation and annihilation of skyrmion-antiskyrmion pairs in a cubic chiral magnet. We have accumulated extensive experience in the study of a particular alloy of FeGe, which is a representative example of a rich family of chiral magnets with a B20-type crystal structure." While conducting their experiments, however, the researchers unveiled other interesting phenomena, which they ultimately found to be associated with skyrmion antiparticles. In their new study, they used a technique known as transmission electron microscopy (TEM), which is the most established technique for in situ observation and imaging of magnetic textures in samples that are up to a few hundred nanometers thick."The distinct magnetic contrast of skyrmions and antiskyrmions allowed us to distinguish these particles, as well as the process of their creation and annihilation." As researchers explain, one of the key ingredients behind successful observation of antiskyrmions was their use of an exceptionally thin and high quality FeGe plate (i.e., 1 μm x 1 μm square plate of only 70 nm in thickness). This sample had been prepared using a technique known as focused ion beam milling. The findings gathered by this team of researchers could inspire more studies of magnetic solitons of different topological charges and symmetry which was not known before. In the future, such a diversity of particle-like states may pave the way toward new strategies to use magnetic solitons in spintronic devices.

July. 23, 2022: neutrinos can get their mass within the Standard Model of particle physics, either by engaging with the Higgs field once, the way the other particles do, or by engaging with it twice. In the first case, the neutrinos would be “Dirac fermions”, just like electrons and quarks. In the second, they’d be “Majorana fermions”.A particle which is a Weyl fermion must have zero mass; this is what neutrinos were once thought to be, before evidence of their masses was uncovered. The second type of fermion, a Dirac fermion, is common in the Standard Model; the electron is a Dirac fermion, as are its its cousins the tau and the muon, and all the quarks. A Dirac fermion is made from the marriage of two Weyl fermions. The third type, a Majorana fermion, marries a Weyl fermion to itself; even more precisely, it marries a Weyl fermion to its anti-particle.  That means that a Weyl fermion can only be a Majorana fermion if it and its anti-particle have the same properties. For instance, since an anti-particle has the opposite electric charge as the corresponding particle, both particle and anti-particle must have electric charge zero. This isn’t true for the electron, muon, tau or the quarks, but it is true for the neutrinos, which is why they will eventually have the option of being Majorana fermions. One half of the electron is affected by the weak nuclear force (in particular, the W field and its corresponding particle, the W boson), while the other half is not. Because of this, they cannot marry… not until the Higgs field comes along and, by switching on and taking on a non-zero value, hides the effect of the weak nuclear force. (In fact this hiding, which involves giving the W and Z bosons a big mass, is what makes this force weak, in the sense discussed here and here.)If neutrinos are Dirac fermions, the same mechanism applies as for electrons. Figure 6 reminds us that one of the two half-neutrinos is “sterile”, meaning it responds neither to the electromagnetic, strong nuclear, or weak nuclear force; However, to explain the fact that the neutrinos have mass no more than a millionth of the electron’s, their Yukawa couplings must also be at least a million times smaller, i.e. yν < 10-12. There’s no obvious reason why this should be the case.  They observed that although, without the Higgs field being switched on, an ordinary neutrino cannot have a Majorana mass, as it is not the same as its anti-neutrino [technically, they have different “hypercharges”, the name give for the U(1) in SU(3)xSU(2)xU(1)],  a sterile neutrino is the same as its anti-particle, so it can have a Majorana mass, as in Figure 4, even without the Higgs field, and a sterile neutrino with a very large mass and an ordinary interaction with the Higgs field (no tiny Yukawa coupling needed) would lead to an ordinary neutrino with a very small mass. A key question you should ask: if you look at the discussion of how the weak nuclear force works in this post, (see its Figure 6), you’ll see there is a similar suppression that comes from a W boson because of its large mass mW — except that there the suppression is 1/mW2. Well, this is a key difference between bosons and fermions: where a boson suppresses effects by the square of its mass, a fermion does so by only one factor of its mass. All we can potentially do in current experiments is probe the neutrino/anti-neutrino interaction with two Higgs fields,Let me just finish with a comment about the fact that there are, of course, three neutrinos, and everything I’ve said so far has focused on one at a time. Doing three completely is more complicated, of course, but if you learned linear algebra in school then you can follow it. For Dirac neutrinos, the Yukawa couplings yν become a 3×3 matrix Yν, and the 3×3 mass matrix for the neutrinos is just  Mν = Yν v . The actual masses of the neutrinos are the three eigenvalues of the matrix Mν . In the Majorana case, the Yukawa couplings are still a 3×3 matrix Yν, but now we also have the sterile neutrino masses, which also form a 3×3 matrix M . Define the inverse of M, which we call M-1, as the matrix such that M M^-1 = 1, where 1 is the 3×3 identity matrix. Then the ordinary neutrino masses are     Mν = v^2 Yν M^-1 (Yν)T where (Yν)T is the conjugate of the Yukawa matrix. Again, the actual masses of the neutrinos are the three eigenvalues of the matrix Mν ; but this time they involve the combinations of the two matrices Yν and M, so unfortunately neither matrix could be uniquely determined even if the matrix Mν were fully known. This does represent a significant limitation on what we can hope to learn about neutrinos in the near future, if they are indeed of Majorana type.

July. 23, 2022: HT Tech - Yesterday 11:17 pm: Inner Solar System spins mysteriously slower; breaks laws of physics? But this new study by Caltech (California Institute of Technology) researchers may help to explain why the inner Solar System does not spin faster. This mystery can be explained through the motion of charged particles that are thin gas disks rotating around young stars. This thin disk of gas and dust, called accretion disks, have been revolving around young stars for tens of millions of years. Scientists have long known that this inward spiral should accelerate the disk's inner part due to the conservation of angular momentum. The inner solar system, which contains the terrestrial planets and spreads from the sun to the asteroid belt, does not spin as fast as it should as per the laws of physics,

Qiang Du, a professor of mathematics at Lipson and Fu Foundation, has been interested in developing algorithms that can transform data into scientific rules for many years. Only if the variables were known in advance could earlier software systems, like Lipson and Michael Schmidt's Eureqa software, extract freeform physical principles from experimental data. But what if none of the variables are not yet known? Abstract: "All physical laws are described as mathematical relationships between state variables. These variables give a complete and non-redundant description of the relevant system. However, despite the prevalence of computing power and artificial intelligence, the process of identifying the hidden state variables themselves has resisted automation. Most data-driven methods for modelling physical phenomena still rely on the assumption that the relevant state variables are already known. A longstanding question is whether it is possible to identify state variables from only high-dimensional observational data. Here we propose a principle for determining how many state variables an observed system is likely to have, and what these variables might be. We demonstrate the effectiveness of this approach using video recordings of a variety of physical dynamical systems, ranging from elastic double pendulums to fire flames. Without any prior knowledge of the underlying physics, our algorithm discovers the intrinsic dimension of the observed dynamics and identifies candidate sets of state variables."

In Sept 1804 British & French fought the naval battle of Vizagapatam! It was the biggest district in country before Srikakulam & Vizianagarm were formed! Visakha is the 2nd son of Shiva;
Also my birthplace!

3rd century BC Buddhist ruins of Thotlakonda
The city is said to have derived its name Visakhapatnam from the king who ruled this part with name 'Visakha Varma' (the former King of present Visakhapatnam/Vizag). 'Patnam' is the Telugu word for city.[2]
Visakhapatnam or the place of Visakha, is named after the deity of valor, the second son of Lord Shiva. The other story is that the beauty of the place was compared to the beauty of Sakhi Visakha. The legend is that Radha and Visakha were born on the same day and equally beautiful. The city people believe that an Andhra king, impressed by the beauty, built a temple to pay obeisance to his family deity, Visakha.
[edit]The epic city
The city has been mentioned in the Indian epics Rāmāyaṇa and Mahābhārata, as well as the forests of the Eastern Ghats where the two brothers Rama and Lakshmana wandered in search of Sita, wife of Lord Rama. According to the epics, Rama formed his army of monkey men in the region with the help of Hanuman and Jambavan. The monkey army of Rama later defeated the demon King RAVAN to claim back his wife Sita. An episode of Mahābhārata when Bheema killed the demon Bakasura, was believed to have happened in the village karmanvati, just 25 miles from the city.
[edit]Buddhist influence
The religious Hindu texts mention that the region of Visakhapatnam in the 5th century BC was part of the vast Kalinga territory which extended up to the Godavari River. The relics found in the area also prove the existence of a Buddhist empire in the region. Kalinga later lost the territory to King Ashoka in the bloodiest battle of the time which prompted him to embrace Buddhism.
[edit]Later history
The territory of Viskahapatnam then came under the Andhra rulers of Vengi. Then Chalukyas, Pallavas ruled over the placid land. The Chola kings built the temples in the city in 11-12 century AD as established by archeological findings. The Mughals ruled this area under the Hyderabad Nizam in the late 15th and early 16th century. European merchants from France, Holland and the East India Company used this natural port to export tobacco, ivory, muslin and other textile products.
Local legend states that an Andhra king while on his way to Benares, rested there and was so enchanted with the sheer beauty of the place, that he ordered a temple to be built in honor of his family deity, Visakha. Archaeological sources however reveal that the temple was possibly built between the 11th and 12th centuries by the Cholas. A shipping merchant, Sankarayya Chetty, built one of the mandapams (pillared halls) of the temple. Although it no longer exists (it may have been washed away about a hundred years ago by a cyclonic storm), elderly residents of Vizag talk of visits to the ancient shrine by their grandparents. Noted author Ganapatiraju Atchuta Rama Raju contradicted this.[3]
